Description:

Imperial Immediacy was a grant in the Holy Roman Empire where the ruler was not obliged to anybody else than the emperor alone. This mod introduces that as a special contract available to county tier vassals of your faith.

Imperial Immediacy prevents granting the vassal to another vassal. Any de jure titles above the vassal cannot be granted away unless to the vassal themselves and there are no other vassals with immediacy within the de jure boundaries.

The vassal also cannot join independence factions and has a +30 opinion toward the liege.

The vassal automatically calls their liege to all defensive wars unless they are at war with the liege themselves. If the attacker is a fellow vassal, the liege gains and imprisonment and revocation reason if the defender wins the war.

On top of this the vassal has +5% and the liege has +2% monthly prestige gain and legitimacy gain.

The mod also adds the contract to where it was historically appropriate. Consequently the HRE will now have county tier bishoprics for far longer than in vanilla. And as de jure liege titles of the vassals cannot be granted away, this also prevents granting the kingdoms of Germany, Bavaria, Lotharingia, Frisia and Italy at game start. The most immediate consequence is having Cologne, Mainz and Trier remains as electors for far longer than usual, as the emperor cannot grant them to their de jure liege anymore without retracting the contract.

Vassals of feudal, theocracy or republic government can seek out the contract. Theocracies, electors, cultures in the high medieval era and vassals whose rightful liege isn’t the emperor will seek out the contract. The player can attain and grant immediacy however they please. If a ruler with immediacy inherits or gains a title of a higher rank, they lose their immediacy as it is no longer valid for them.
