Personal Lore:

"Commander we have received word that our ‘rivals’ have begun experimenting on countless victims. Whether they be prisoners of war from the Resistance with no value or Agents who have previously failed ADVENT, these unfortunate souls have found themselves forcibly augmented to pilot mass produced suits made in the mocking image of Dr. Raymond Shen’s designs. Dr. Tygan’s research into them has yielded information that the procedure is so invasive compared to what we might do that each Trooper’s lifespan is limited regardless. If we don’t take them out when we see them, they will pass away on their own. The ultimate punishment of cruelty, even if they do well their life is already over. Best we can do Commander is put them out of their misery while taking care that they don’t do the same to us."

Mod Information:

Alright, so MOCX or EXALT, whatever you may run have some pretty nifty classes via the base mod or mods like the Zealot(Templar) or Phantom(Reaper) eh? Well anybody remember the Advanced Mec’s that they can field via a Dark Event right?

Wait you don’t? Why?
Because they’re not that interesting even with the MOCX Mec Visual Replacement mod I made?

Well…what if you could fight something more interesting without needing a Dark Event to pass?

That’s where this mod comes in via FearTheBunnies MOCX Customizer+ ‘s recently introduced feature where you can add specific non-class unit types. Unlike the class mods before, these are more akin to static enemies like your standard Advent Mec which have set abilities.

I know that’s not quite as dynamic vs soldier like promotions, that being said this mod is intended to somewhat emulate the Mec Trooper spirit from Enemy Within in the ability lineup.

Mec Trooper abilities: M1: Fist Strike, Demolition, Suppression, Marauder and Triangulate M2: As M1 with Hunter Protocol and Layered Armour M3: As M2 with Absorption Fields See the screenshots in the gallery for more details.

These Mec Troopers are deployed in any MOCX/EXALT squad starting from force level 5 which is when standard Advent Mec’s start showing up.

Unlike your typical MOCX/EXALT unit these guys will not evac, much like the Rookies from that mod the Mec Troopers will always die upon their HP reaching zero. They are here to fight to the bitter end.

These units will not replace the MOCX Advanced Mec’s, they are additional units.

"Deadput, I don’t like the armor/weapon patterns, they are ugly and ruin immersion.
How do I change this?":

Good question, you can disable that feature via the mod’s XComMOCXMECTROOPERS.ini config file. This feature is enabled by default though. You can also find many other settings in that file to tweak.

Mod Install instructions and compatibility:

Make sure to install this mod after any of the required mods.
All the listed DLC as well as it’s mods are hard requirements.

This mod uses adjusted Enemy Within MEC Weapons models for the tier 2 and 3 weapons, adapted with permission. It is NOT a requirement but CAN be used alongside.

Mec Troopers Redux (or it’s LWotC Version) for giving Mec Troopers to XCom is NOT a requirement but CAN be used alongside.

This mod is self contained in regards to Mec Trooper assets which originate from RealityMachina‘s Raider Faction: Rogue XCOM Operatives mod, used with permission.

The head cosmetics of your Mec Troopers are partially dependent on what cosmetic mods you have, for example in the screenshots you can see E3245‘s EYExtender mod in play which helps make them look even more like victims of cruel experimentation.

Issues:

Mec Trooper physics upon unit death can get a little silly but can be mostly ignored, you can see an example in one of the screenshots for demonstration after they got Fist Striked.

The Mec Trooper Fist Strike has no audio for the wind-up.

They do not draw from the character pool, they might be randomised visually using soldier cosmetics but there is currently no support for the character pool.
