Bocchi
Hitori "Bocchi" Gotoh from the critically acclaimed anime Bocchi the Rock makes her debut into the world of Aether! After showing up a year late to avoid social interaction with the other anime jam characters, Bocchi is finally ready to rock!
Being out and about like this can leave Bocchi feeling pretty drained, causing the meter on her hud to deplete. If the meter fully runs out, it will cause her to become stunned for a brief period. While she is busy recharging, the opponent is free to punish her how they please.
However, there are benefits to the meter being low! If your meter hits halfway, your specials become enhanced, dattack gains a projectile, and you become faster, indicated by a brief white glow and accompanying sound effect.
You can gain meter back by hitting an opponent, or you can hold crouch to hide from society in a mango box! (You can crawl around under it too!)
Bocchi strums her guitar to create a standard fireball that follows a similar arc to Luigi’s from Smash Bros. Enhanced Nspecial is a bit bigger and does more damage and hitstun.
Bocchi launches herself forward, sending anything she collides with flying! This move has a low chance of misfiring, making her launch at frighteningly high speeds, and making the move much deadlier. Enhanced Fspecial goes slightly further and deals more damage and knockback.
Bocchi’s nerves get to her and causes her to explode, leaving behind only a lonely kite gliding in the wind. Holding down during the glide causes you to go into pratfall, but landing during the glide puts you in no lag upon landing. Enhanced Uspecial goes higher and gives the initial hit more damage and knockback.
Channeling all of her energy into her guitar, Bocchi strikes with incredible force! This move is disgustingly strong but very easy for the opponent to avoid and punish. Empowered Dspecial gains super armor during startup, but uses 1/4th of your meter upon use.
In the air, down special becomes a strong falling downwards strike with your guitar. Empowered air Dspecial gains armor on startup, greater knockback and damage, and a longer lasting spike hitbox.
- Holding down during the ascent portion of Uspecial to go into pratfall will propel you very high in the air, allowing you to get back to stage more comfortably.
- Sliding off platforms with Fspecial will cancel the move, allowing for nifty movement shenanigans.
- Nair gives you a slight boost out of jump, allowing for a bit of extra height.
- Air Dspecial can be jump cancelled out of on hit.
- Dattack can be done off of ledges, giving it a weak spiking hitbox while falling and bouncing you up on hit
