Developed after WW2, the MAT-49 was a simple reliable SMG which would become one of the symbols of the Cold War, and specially early anti-colonialism, through it’s use by both the French and independence groups. Due to it’s widespread use and simplicity, many opposing sides in different wars, specially in Africa, would end up using them, with some nations still having them in storage or secondary use.
