LotR: Realms in Exile | Cults of Shadow
A sub-mod for Lord of the Rings: Realms in Exile.
Cults of Shadow adds additional flavor and content for various evil-aligned faiths across Middle-Earth, with special attention given to those orcs at the fringes of the map that otherwise have very little flavor. Currently, the mod includes new faiths, new buildings, new men-at-arms, a dozen new major and minor decisions, and an optional end-game crisis.
The Cults of Shadow:
Dragon Cults
Send tribute to dragons! Hoard treasure for huge bonuses! Prepare the way for the "Last Dragon", a new end-game crisis. Harness powerful new Fire-Drake MAA to give you the edge over Erebor (just don’t get roasted alive trying to buy their allegiance)! Hunt down the killers of Smaug, Scatha, and Ancalagon in a new "Dragon-Slayers" decision chain. New holy sites in Erebor and Nurunkizdin encourage expansion into Rhovanion.
Deep Cults
The Deep Cults have been overhauled, with new tenets and holy sites that focus on maximizing stress in return for powerful stat increases. Amp up that paranoia and lose your mind as you worship Nameless Things beneath the earth, risking stress and injury for powerful boons!
Cult of Smaug-Trāgu
A new Tyrannical faith that revolves around hoarding as much treasure as possible. Both AI and players across Rhovanion have new decisions that will allow them to create and spread the cult, assuming they have the "right" personality… Hoard treasure, kill Bardings, and proclaim the Desolation of Smaug!
Mâlin-Fai
A new formable faith for the orcs and goblins of the Western Yellow Mountains. This ancient cult of Morgoth-worship comes with a unique mechanic that allows you to reshape the tenets of the faith, and redirect the cult’s future. Avenge the Battle of Palisor, swear allegiance to Sauron, or break free of the tyranny of Dark Lords! Forever chain the Blacklocks with a new customizable special building.
Cult of the Dark Tree
Corrupt the hearts of men and destroy the Reunited Kingdom from the inside with this "The New Shadow"-inspired cult. WIP: Basic version of the faith is available, but a planned endgame crisis with unique cult conversion mechanics are coming soon.
