What does this mod do?

This mod attempts to rectify a change Paradox did in Common Sense – during their buildings overhaul, they noted a lot of buildings did the same thing or lacked any type of strategic depth. While entirely true, I disagree with their way of solving the issue by completely removing the buildings from the game. Hence, this mod re-adds all the buildings, but with a new niche for each and every one of them. It has been tailored after Beyond Typus, and unfortunately, due to how the building code works, does not work with vanilla EU4.

Below follows a list of buildings:

Outside fortifications: Ramparts, Tenailles and Redoubts. Built on provinces with a fort, they boost the defensiveness and attrition on the province.

Level 3 tax and production: Tax assessors and customs houses.

A University prequel – The College.

A new manufactory building – The Mint. Built on gold provinces and works similar to that of a furnace, however instead of increasing goods produced, it increases the nation’s tax modifier.

Area-wide buildings: Constablaries, Treasuries, Post Offices and National Monuments. They provide an area-wide bonus for tax, production, trade+institution spread and unrest reduction respectively. Can only be built in stated provinces. Previous versions also contained area-wide buildings for manpower, sailors and province autonomy, however 1.30 replaced these with Manufactory-style buildings, which I’m still not entirely sure was a good move.

Subject-specific buildings: The March, the Embassy and the Spy Agency. They seek to power up your subjects in one way or another and are built in the subject’s capital. March increases forts’ effectiveness and makes them cheaper to help your subjects’ economy (Requires a march subject). The Embassy decreases subject liberty desire and the Spy Agency increases their admin efficiency and decreases claim cost to help cope with the fact that the overlord usually has much more admin efficiency than their subject, especially newly released ones.

Infrastructure: Road networks and canals. Both increase the number of allowed buildings in the province, while also having a separate effect as well. Roads increase troop movement speed whereas canals decrease development cost. There’s also a Granary building which reduces monthly devastation in a province, perfect for when you don’t want to place a fort in a single province not covered by a fort zone of control, or when you want to prevent devastation from sieges.

And finally Armouries, whose main purpose is to increase supply limit in provinces, something that has gone down quite a bit in Beyond Typus.

Compatches

Unfortunately, due to the nature of EU4’s building code, UI and tech unlock entries being in files that the game only reads once, this mod suffers heavily from incompatibilities. Fortunately, there are compatches that mend these incompatibilities out there, and below follows a list of compatches to make this mod work with certain mods.

Byzantine Resurgence
Purple UI
Colonization
Twelve Ideas
Stellaris Font
