Patria Grande: A Better Hispanoamerica

If you’ve ever played as any Hispanic American country, you’ll know how frustrating it can be. Paradox presents these countries as extremely weak and with very few development options. This mod significantly improves Hispanic America and introduces a new formable country with its own unique content, providing a much more enjoyable experience.

-Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Nor-Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela have received technological improvements (as well as Spain, for historical consistency). Additionally, several of these countries now have religious schools, religious hospitals, or both.

-The Esequibo region starts as part of Venezuela, as it historically was.

-Claims for colonization in South America have been corrected. Argentina now also has claims on the Falkland Islands.

-Construction penalties in regions such as the Sierra Madre, the Andes, and the Central American Cordillera have been reduced, though not completely removed.

-Many more resources and arable lands have been added across the American continent. The base game does not reflect the continent’s wealth, so now there’s more oil, rubber, gold, and many other resources.

-The mechanics for formable nations in South America have been modified. Developing national cultures no longer prevents the formation of other countries. This includes the Federation of the Andes, which can now also be formed by Chile (although the Patria Grande and the Federation of the Andes cannot be formed in the same game).

-Mexico has very little content in the base game and is at an absolute disadvantage compared to the United States. It has received a series of improvements, including decisions related to Mexican Destiny, which grant claims and possible homeland status over the Great Plains, Oregon, and Washington, as well as the option to reintegrate Central America under Mexican control.

-The Patria Grande has been introduced, a formable country that unites all of Hispanic America, with dynamic flags and names.

-Forming the Patria Grande creates a new Hispanoamerican culture, which must be progressively imposed across the country, rewarding players with a powerful modifier upon achieving this feat.

-Numerous expansion decisions have been added, granting claims on the western United States and Canada, the Caribbean, western Brazil, and even homeland status in these states.

-Additional journal entries and decisions have been added as content for the Patria Grande.

-Improved quality of life for playing in America.

-Expansion options for Central America and greater ease in keeping the country united.

The mod introduces some railroading, with permanent claims and modifiers. I know many players dislike this, but I believe achieving certain goals within the mod should come with a reward. I’d appreciate your feedback on this.

Future Plans:
*Specific modifiers for some states. Feel free to suggest ideas!
*More historical buildings will be added at the start of the game. Suggestions are welcome for this as well.
*I’ll figure out how to make characters from non-original countries continue to appear after forming the Patria Grande.
*A journal entry about a major conflict between unitarians and federalists, similar to what happened in almost every Hispanic American country in real life. This could trigger a civil war, with modifiers depending on whether a unitary or federal model is chosen.
*Depending on how assimilation works in 1.8, I want to develop events related to the indigenous peoples of the Americas.
*I’ll continue tweaking resources and the starting population and laws in Hispanic America. Suggestions are always welcome!
Feel free to suggest anything else, except historical wars involving these countries, as that would make the game too railroaded for a sandbox like Victoria 3.
