Religions and Cultures Expanded
This mod aims to change and add religions, cultures, culture groups and mechanics.
Currently the following religions are changed or added:
- Bogomoilist
- Hindu (Vanilla, changed mechanic)
- Jainist
- Nestorian
- Manichean
- Nang Chos
- Vidilist
Currently the following new culture groups are added:
- Aramaic
Currently the following new cultures are added and the following Vanilla cultures are swapped to different groups:
- Avshars (Iranian)
- Farsi (Iranian)
- Parthian (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Iranian)
- Azeri (Altaic)
- Kalmyk (Altaic)
- Oghuz (Altaic)
- Qashqai (Altaic)
- Coptic (Sudanese)
- Assyrian (Aramaic)
- Babylonian (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Aramaic)
- Chaldean (Aramaic)
- Hebrew (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Aramaic)
- Manichaean (Aramaic)
- Phoenician (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Aramaic)
Detailed information about the added content can be viewed in-game via a custom startup screen, which can also be opened again later with a button in the top right near the date controls.
Converting to or away from the new or changed religions by console should be avoided, because that can break things. To convert to the new religions, if you want to cheat, you can trigger the event rce_events.1 with the console.

- playing with mods adding content specific to certain Vanilla religions or cultures may lock you out of that content when those were changed or the starting situation of countries with such content were changed in this mod
- there will be major compatibility issues with mods that (Expanded Mod Family mods excluded, since those are compatible):
- add or change religions
- change Vanilla cultures
- change at least one of the following files in the interface folder: countryreligionview.gui or topbar.gui
- there will be medium to minor compatibility issues with mods that (Expanded Mod Family mods excluded, since those are compatible):
- add or change religion icons
- change Hindu deities in the common/personal_deities folder
- change at least one of the following files in the interface folder: alerts.gui or provinceview.gui
- change at least one of the following diplomatic actions in the common/diplomatic_actions folder: giftaction, guaranteeaction or insultaction (exceptions: Force Revoke Guarantee & More Favor Actions)
- change the file in the common/governments folder
- change at least one of the following scripted functions in the common/scripted_functions folder: can_claim_defender_of_faith
- change at least one of the following static modifiers in the common/static_modifiers folder: devotion, innovativeness, prestige, religious_unity or republican_tradition
- change at least one of the following files in the decisions folder: GreekNation.txt, IsraelNation.txt, Ottoman.txt, PersianNation.txt, TibetanNation.txt or TurkishNation.txt
- change at least one of the following files in the events folder: Hinduism.txt or flavorKLM.txt
- change at least one of the following events in a file in the events folder: MEE_Byzantine_Events.7
- change at least one of the following files in the missions folder: DOM_Ottoman_Missions.txt, KoK_Persia_Missions.txt and Tibetan_Missions.txt
- add the tag NPA
Major compatibility issues here mean that the mod will be unplayable for the most part. Mods that change or add religions will most likely clash with the religions added in this mod, same applies to mods editing Vanilla cultures. Mods replacing the mentioned interface files will lead to many new mechanics not being usuable.
Medium and minor compatibility issues here mean that the mod will be playable for the most part, but certain features will not work correctly. Some things might be missing or not work as intended.
