[1.18] Basileia Romaion
Basileia Romaion: CK3.
This mod post Roads to Power improves on areas Paradox overlooked, with the goal of making game-play as the Greek-speaking Medieval Roman Empire feel more immersive and authentic.
The term "Basileia Romaion" (Βασιλεία τῶν Ῥωμαίων) is the Greek name for the Eastern Roman Empire or "Byzantine" Empire. It was the official name of the empire in Greek during its existence. "Basileia" means "Empire" or "Kingdom," and "Romaion" means "of the Romans" or "Roman." This name reflects the "Byzantines"’ identification as Romans and their continuity with the Roman Empire.
- Change the Default name from Byzantine Empire to Basileía Romaíon. You can change it to Roman Empire or various other options in the game rules if you prefer.
- Culture renamed from Greek to Romaíoi which is their correct identity.
- Catepanate given the proper name of Katepanikion and ruled by a Katepano.
- Councillors renamed to their Historic Greek names: Chancellor to Mágistros, Steward to Sakellários, Marshal to Protostátis, Spymaster to Mystikós
- Renamed many titles to their correct names.
- Renamed Co-Ruler to Symbasileus
- Balkan Cultures within the Dejure Empire given the names of what the Romaioi called them instead of what they are called in English.
- Orthodox can appoint (Court) Patriarch, was very common for the Emperor to directly appoint the Ecumenical Patriarch this is close as I can do.
- Raiding enabled for the following to simulate the annual raiding that happened between the Arabs and ERE along the frontier as well as naval raiding.
- Raiding enabled for Frontier Themes. (On by default can be turned off via rule)
- Naval Raiding enabled for Naval Themes. (On by default can be turned off via rule)
- Berber cultures can raid overseas
- Arab cultures can raid their neighbors if different faith.
- Konni Raiders(Balkan Slavs) can raid depending on various factors.
- Added new Kingdom tier titles to represent historic Katepanikions: Antiochia, Dalmatía, Édessa & Thrace.
- Greater Armenia as New Empire tier title.
- Imperium Romanorum sive Francorum aka Carolingian Empire still exists in 867, though the Emperors authority is limited to Italy his dejure lands are extensive.
- Redrew all the Anatolian & Pontic Themes to better reflect their historic Borders.
- Added two Baronies to Konstantinople.
- New Duchies added both proper and titular.
- Added new characters, adventurers and families at 867.
- Dalmatian culture added to the Dalmation Coast as an Italian/Romaioi Hybrid for the Latin speakers along the in that region.
- Aigyptios culture added (Romaioi name for the Copts) (Added the RICE mod Nile trait which will only show up if you have RICE enabled.)
- Egyptian now Misir a hybrid between Aigyptios and Bedouin.
- Empire of Bulgaria added as a titular tile.
- Improved Konstantinople starting buildings to better reflect its Immense wealth. I recommend playing With City of Wonders 3 for peak experience.
- Croatian, Serbian and Bulgarian provinces start mostly pagan as conversion had only just begun recently or in some cases after the start of the game. Characters Unchanged.
- Cultures adjusted though-out the Balkans and Anatolia adding some missing minorities.
- More Tribal holdings in Serbia, Croatia and Bulgaria though only as secondary baronies.
- Louis the Younger is the Carolingian Emperor in 867, though his authority doesn’t expand beyond Italy proper.
###
- Represent the Synklētos (Senate In Constantinople).
- Add a struggle mechanic along the Anatolian borderlands with the Arabs.
###
Known Issue: Councillor names affect all nations I have tried to set up custom loc with no luck.
Testing and balance primarily focused on 867 and the ERE.
