Forthammer Fantasy
Adds a large variety of things from Warhammer Fantasy, including guns, runes, 9 new civilizations, 9 new secrets based on the lores of magic, as well as many creatures, megabeasts, runes and more.
DFhack is required for many advanced features. Place the file "onMapLoadForthammer.init" in the folder ../Dwarf Fortress/dfhack-config/init.

- Ogre Kingdoms: Large, stupid and extremely hungry, the primitive ogres and their gnoblar pets want nothing more than to eat everything in the world.
- Elves
[/b]: The high elves live in cities and work with metal and wood. Their unique Ithilmar metal gives them strong and light weapons and armor. Dark elves, on the other hand, live in Dark Pits and will be hostile to all others. Wood Elves have new bows with various magical ammunition and will use metal arms and armor.

There are 9 new secrets, each with multiple spells tied to them. Anyone may learn them except Dwarves. Humans and Elves can research these secrets at a craftsdwarf’s workshop, giving a small chance to create a book containing them. Elves can learn multiple lores of Magic, others are restricted to one.
- Lore of Life: Healing, tree spirit summoning
- Lore of Death: Life steal, death by laughter
- Lore of Shadow: Attack your opponent’s minds
- Lore of Light: Banish Daemons, shoot fire from your eyes
- Lore of Metal: Turn your foes to gold, spray molten silver
- Lore of Beasts: Transform into monsters, and conjure giant birds
- Lore of the Heavens: Glimpse the future, shoot lightning
Lore of Vampires: An alternative form of vampirism that grants access to powerful magic
Daemon Princehood: If you are (un)lucky enough to be chosen by a god of Chaos, you will be transformed into a Daemon Prince, an incredibly powerful creature that is hostile to all mortals
Guns:Handguns, long rifles, pistols and cannons can all be made at a metalsmith’s forge, though cannons are too large to wield and can only be used as siege engines. Their ammunition is manufactured from a combination of a bullet made of metal, paper, and gunpowder at a craftsdwarf’s workshop. Gunpowder can be made at a millstone or quern using saltpeter, brimstone and charcoal. This can then be combined with powderless bullets made at a forge to create cartridges. For even more power, grenade launchers cause an explosion upon contact with a target, engulfing a large area in fire.
Thrown Weapons: Throwing axes and javelins are just as effective at range as they are in melee. To use them, produce one throwing axe or javelin, and then provide thrown axes and thrown javelins as ammunition.
Ithilmar: A metal as strong as steel but as light as air, High Elves can forge many wonderous items using it.
Gromril: An extremely heavy and durable metal, exclusive to dwarves. Outside of a forge, it’s immune to even the scalding heat of dragonfire! Do note that the dwarf inside the armor may not be immune to fire, though. Found rarely underground, gromril is extremely valuable and can be used to make…
Runes are the dwarven answer to the lores of magic. Blank runes are made at a metalsmith’s forge out of Gromril or Adamantine and then imbued with power. Runes enhance the item they’re inscribed upon.
- Rune of Smiting: Inflicts extreme pain and bleeding upon the target
- Rune of Banishment: Has a chance to banish any Daemon hit by it
- Rune of Strength: Doubles the strength of the wearer
- Rune of Flame: Ignites targets
- Rune of Speed: Increases the wearer’s speed
- Rune of Fortitude: Reduces damage taken by the wearer.
Daemons of Chaos roam the world, seeking mortals to kill and corrupt. Many types exist, all are dangerous, and all want to destroy your fortress. There are also mortal followers of Chaos in the form of marauding Warriors and malevolent Champions. Many Chaos worshippers are capable of summoning Daemons, so beware!
Dragons in this world are intelligent flying beasts who live thousands of years and grow to immense sizes, though their growth is very slow. These creatures are tamable if you are lucky enough to catch one without it burning down your fortress. There are many varieties, all ranging in temperment and strength.
Trolls of many varieties populate the land, and come with powerful regeneration. Beware these powerful beasts in sieges!
Mechanical Creatures are available to Humans and Dwarves. To create one, place a nest box one tile to the north of a metalsmith’s forge and assign the appropriate job. This will consume a lot of steel, copper and mechanisms but will produce a new war machine for your fort.
- You can make cartidges at a metalsmith’s forge without gunpowder. Doing so WILL break the balance of the game. Please use the custom reactions if you don’t want to steamroll everything.
- Will crash upon entering arena mode with the DFHack .init file enabled.
- Artifacts and book bindings can be made from Gunpowder.
- Steam tanks can cause crashes when pastured.
- Incompatible with Interface Tweaks.
Please report any bugs you encounter and I will do my best to fix them!
L’Homme Crabe for their Mountain Orcs mod which I used as a base for the orcs in this mod.
TwinCrows for the Orc civilization being playable.
FantasticFwoosh for general assitance.
Games Workshop for inventing this setting and all the characters within.
This is my first mod I’ve ever made, I really hope you enjoy it. It is playable, though some graphics are missing.
I recommend using this alongside the excellent mod Topples’ Lizardmen.
