The F-104C Starfighter had a limited but notable role in the Vietnam War, primarily as a tactical fighter and fighter-bomber for the U.S. Air Force. Initially deployed for air superiority missions, the aircraft’s high speed and agility were useful in intercepting enemy aircraft. However, it found more use in ground-attack and close air support roles, despite its design as an interceptor. The F-104C was employed in bombing and strafing missions but struggled due to its short range, limited payload capacity, and vulnerability to ground fire. By 1967, it was largely phased out in favor of more capable aircraft like the F-4 Phantom II. Despite its limitations, the F-104C made valuable contributions to the early stages of U.S. air operations in Vietnam.

– use left/right arrow keys to cycle down/up skins. Alternatively, when landing gear is down, holding yaw left + throttle down/yaw right + throttle up will cycle down/up skins. This causes AI to sometimes change skins on takeoff, and is a gameplay feature.
– press H to toggle third person heads-up display (TP-HUD)
– the starfighter is an interceptor, so use it like one. Turn-fighting is not an ideal situation to be in, enemies are often slower with a tighter turn circle. Use this to your advantage; the AIM-7E is better for long-range, as it is faster with a larger warhead. The AIM-9E will be better for CQC (under 800 metres)
