Description:

With this mod, I tried to make the Holy Roman Empire more historical accurate for the 1066-startdate, without breaking too much for later gameplay (hopefully).

– The Duchies and their rulers form of adress now have more historical names, since in 1066, there werent as much Dukes in the HRE as CK3 gives them. For Example, the Duke of Thuringia is now the Landgrave, the Duke of Holland the Grave, the Duke of Moravia a Margrave and the Duke of West Francia (since it most likely equals the later Rhine Palatinate) becomes the Pfalsgrave. The actual, historical Dukes like the ones of Swabia and Bavaria are now called Herizogo. This is only a cosmetical change, they all still function as normal dukes ingame.

– The three historically most important Archbishops (Cologne, Mainz and Trier) were broken out of their corresponding duchies and were given their own one county duchies, because in my experience, they were wiped out pretty quickly and are nearly impossible to re-establish. The duchies of Lower and Upper Lorraine got new capitals because of that (Berg for Upper and Nancy for Lower Lorraine).

– I also gave some of the Duchies new Capitals, like Magdeburg for Anhalt, Nürnberg for East Franconia and Brunswick for Ostfalen (now called Saxony).

– To account for their accentuated status among the Empires vassals, I gave more provinces to the stem-duchies of Swabia and Saxony, so they both have 9-10 de-jure counties. For this, I gave the provinces of Augsburg, Kempten and Burgau to the duchy of Swabia (never made sense giving them to Bavaria in the first place) and split up de-jure Angria, giving the counties to West- and Ostfalen, renaming the latter to Saxony. Bavaria already had 9 counties so I didnt change anything there, and the Duchy of Franconia (represented ingame as East- and West Franconia) dissolved pretty much some decades after the game start, so it makes sense for them being weaker then the other stem duchies.

– The provinces of Ravensburg and Alpsee are now de-jure counties of the Duchy of Currezia, so the Duchy of Augsburg doesnt exist anymore since it was only messing things up in this area when trying to have a somewhat historical plausible playthrough. Historically, giving it to Swabia would have made the most sense, but this would have made the Duchy of Swabia too powerful. So since they were traditionally Welf fiefs, along with the lands around Zürich, I think its justifiable to give these counties to Currezia.

– The County of Genoa now has a city as its capital and is a republic.

– The County of Augsburg is now a Theocracy.

– Dietrich von Katlenburg (count of Hildesheim) and his father are now Saxons, since it never made sense for them being Bavarian.

– Lastly, I took inspiration from Danir(CZ)’s mod "No HRE Kingdoms" and made it impossible for the AI to create kingdoms inside the HRE, with the exception of Bohemia.

– I also strongly recommend playing this with Electors of Holy Roman Empire (Vassal of Vassal Electors and Transfer Electorships) and giving the Electorate from Bohemia, Angria, Brandenburg (Luticia at game start) and East Franconia to Swabia, Ostfalen (now called Saxony), Bavaria and West Franconia. This better represents the imperial election in the 11th and 12th century, where there wasnt an institution of prince-electors, but where the King was elected by representatives of the german tribes.

Known Bugs:
The three new archbishoprics of Cologne, Mainz and Trier have random CoAs since when I tried to give them their historical CoA, it messed with some other CoAs and made them transparent. This can be corrected when being their liege and editing the CoAs ingame.

If you find any other bugs or (historical or gameplay-wise) inconsistencies, please let me know!
