Welcome to the EU4 Revised 1444 Setup Mod, a comprehensive overhaul of the game’s starting setup in 1444! This mod brings new tags, formable nations, cultural additions, diplomacy tweaks, mission trees, and much more to enhance your gameplay and historical immersion.

Mission Trees

Beyliks: Access to old Ottoman mission tree.
Livonian Order: Buffed mission tree with trade-focused rewards and a colonization bonus.
Ruthenia-Russian region: all tags use minor principality missions.
Viborg: Uses Finnish mission tree.
New and revised missions for Byzantium (highlight – early suez canal) and Trebizond
Medri Bahri gets a few of Ethiopian missions

Rulers

Inal Inalid (5/4/4) now rules Circassia.
Uthman Hafsid (5/3/4) of Tunis with revised stats.
A Tlemceni pretender to the throne rules Algiers
Where possible, all new/independent tags were given historical rulers

Muscovy: Tatar Yoke events removed, Civil War now involves Galich
New event: create Qasim as buffer state or rule directly
Qara Qoyunlu: Must decide Baghdad’s fate after Ispend Mirza’s death
HRE: Death of Cologne/Munster archbishops ends vassalage of Paderborn & Osnabruck
Georgia: “Demetrius’ Ambitions” can release Imereti
Timurids: Tributaries auto-release on Shah Rukh’s death
Baduspanids: “Ka’us II Rebellion” event on ruler death
Viborg: May seek foreign backing for independence (AI won’t)
Byzantium has an option to release a powerful Exarchates of Carthage and Ravenna
Armenia can rebuild its old metroplis of Ani

AI Fixes:
AI no longer converts to Islam whenever it can

Government Reforms

Beyliks now have a fixed dynasty
Siberian Native Councils are assigned to tribes of Vym and Mari
Reformed Byzantine Government now has access to tributary states
Byzantium can now only land Pronoiars after completing “Reverse the Downfall” to avoid early AI collapse.
Exarchate tier-1 reform for Exarchates
Medri Bahri now has access to ‘Solomonid Empire’ reform
Trebizond can land pronoiars

Localizations

Livonia now uses monarch names of the Duchy of Kurland (instead of the names of the Grand Masters of the Livonian Order)
Several provinces change names when owned by the Eranshahr tag (same feature for armenian culture)
Hisn Kayfa ruler titles are now styled in Syrian/Egyptian convention (not Persian)
Fixed a typo in monarch names for Hormuz
Added exapanded province naming for Byzantine culture group and Armenia

Unit Sprites

Tunis now uses Tlemceni unit sprites
Hisn Kayfa now uses Syrian unit sprites
Baghdad uses Qara Qoyunlu unit sprites
Viborg uses Finnish unit sprites
Liegnitz, Plock, Warsaw, and Kuyavia use Polish unit sprites
Masnura uses Kazani unit sprites
Galich uses Smolenskian unit sprites
Republic of Viatka uses Nizhny Novgorod unit sprites
Novgorod uses Pskovian unit sprites
Mari and Vym use Permian unit sprites
Warmia, Podolia, Livonian bishoprics, Cyrenaica, Shaki, Hakkari, Desani, Alania, Baduspanids, Derbent, Kabardia, Kakheti all use unit sprites associated with their primary culture
Montferrat use italian minors sprites, Exarchate of Carthage use Tlemcen sprites, Exarchate of Ravenna use Roman sprites
Commonwealth units got better coloring

Modifiers

Lithuania, Byzantium, Morocco and Qara Qoyunlu get temporal country modifier that reduce liberty desire in subjects to prevent their early collapse

Province Updates

Sol Galitskaya produce salt
Breslau/Wroclaw is now directly owned by Bohemia
Totma and Ustyug are now governed by the principality of Rostov (on behalf of Muscovy)
Serbia gets a core on Podrinje

Additional Features

German cultures (Dutch, Flemish, Frisian excluded) name Colonial Colombia as "Klein-Venedig".
Improved map colors for Silesia, Volhynia and Ruthenia
Flags for various new (and existing) tags
