[WOTC] Accurate Covering Fire
This mod adds some configurable functionality to the Covering Fire ability that makes it more effective at accomplishing it’s intended purpose and a better choice overall. There are two separate effects in play that can be enabled/disabled independantly. You can also toggle whether enemies with Covering Fire can benefit from these effects as well (by default, they do).
When a soldier has the Covering Fire ability, ALL reaction shots they take will ignore default 50% of the targets defense granted from cover. Provides no benefit against enemies who are flanked, exposed, or do not use cover.
When a soldier has the Covering Fire ability, ALL reaction shots they take will apply a one-turn default -15 Aim penalty to the target, hit or miss (similar to Covering Fire’s behavior in LW2). This penalty will be applied BEFORE the target gets to take their shot, making any shots getting interrupted via Covering Fire less likely to hit their intended targets.
The description for the Covering Fire ability has been updated, but has not been translated to any other languages.
Firaxis for a mod-friendly game, Pavonis Interactive for LW2 and the original idea for the Aim penalty, and .vhs for the wonderful preview image.

- 1.2.0:
- Reworked to allow specific shots to be configured (via new config variable) to benefit from Accurate Covering Fire’s effects, even if a generic ability like Covering Fire is not present or the ability is a non-standard reaction shot. This is a mod compatibility change and has no effects on its own.
