Comprehensive Map
Experience Europa Universalis IV with expanded vanilla map!
– Vanilla-Based Expansion
This mod enhances the existing map without altering the classic map projection. Enjoy the familiar world with added depth and detail.
– Massive Map Expansion
Over 700 new provinces in Europe, over 700 provinces in Asia (except for Indian subcontinent) and over 500 provinces in Africa to enhance gameplay while maintaining excellent performance. In total, 1975 new provinces were introduced.
– Regional Overhauls
The first expansion focuses on Ruthenia and adjacent regions, introducing:
- New tags and subject types.
- Updated missions.
- Events and decisions to establish Zaporozhian Sich (ZAZ).
- New Great Projects (imported from other mods).
– Compatibility-Focused Design
Built for maximum compatibility with other mods:
- Selectively overrides files (e.g., east_slavic and slavic culture groups only).
- Avoids introducing new mechanics for a seamless vanilla experience.
Europa Expanded is compatible using the following COMPATCH. Note that other mods may be incompatible if you are using Europa Expanded.
As of 17/01/2025, the following mods are compatible with Comprehensive Map (and there is a very high chance they will be compatible in the future):
- Advisor Types Expanded
- Ages and Splendor Expanded
- Flavour and Events Expanded
- Governments Expanded
- Great Monuments Expanded
- Historical Ideas Expanded
- Holy Roman Empire Expanded
- Peace Treaties Expanded
- Subjects Expanded
- Trade Goods Expanded 1.37.1
- Harb’s Development Points
Currently Religions and Cultures Expanded is compatible but it may become incompatible in the future (e.g. game will start properly but Comprehensive Map cultures will be missing). I will try to watch for such changes and make a compatch if needed. At the moment Comprehensive Map changes just east_slavic and slavic culture groups which are not affected by Religions and Cultures Expanded.
Basically all mods in Expanded Mod Family are compatible!
The Ruthenia Expansion Pack adds rich historical flavor and depth to the region with:
– Autonomous Principalities Under Lithuania
Released Kyiv, Volhynia, and other Ruthenian principalities as semi-independent fiefs under Lithuania. Historically, these lands were ruled by autonomous vassals—some even having been Grand Dukes of Lithuania themselves!
– New Subject Type: Fief
Represents a looser form of dependence than vassalage. Used for regions like Volhynia, Kyiv, Novhorod-Siverskyi, and Starodub, reflecting their high levels of autonomy.
– Flavour for the Zaporozhian Sich
This unique country is now more likely to emerge. It can form:
- Historically in 1550 under Dmytro Vyshnevetsky.
- Spawned by any slavic/east_slavic culture group country or by Poland, Lithuania, or the Commonwealth if they hold key provinces in the region. Reflects the historical settlement of Ruthenian borderlands to defend against Tatar raids.
– New Tags
Additional tags such as Halychia, which can be released for further historical immersion.
– East Slavic Cultural Overhaul
- Expanded east_slavic culture group with new subcultures: Polesian, Severian, Volhynian, Halychian, and more.
- New subcultures added to other East Slavic cultures for enhanced diversity.
– Improved Missions
- Updated and fixed base Ruthenian missions, ensuring all missions are achievable.
– New Great Projects
New Great Projects in Ukraine and Russia regions.
This mod is heavily based on the incredible work of EmpireUniversalis, while reworking and reintegrating Asia with the vanilla game.
Additional credits:
- Atlas Novum for enriching the world with new tags.
- Beyond Typus for inspiring new events and missions.
- More Asian Provinces for Asian provinces overhaul.
- More African Provinces for African provinces overhaul.
- Election of Casimir for new options in Polish election event.
- Strategic Fortresses for new monuments.
- Project Caesar for inspiring new cultures and tags.
This is just the beginning! The next steps include further European overhauls (Ruthenia, Poland, Romania, Scandinavia, Novgorod, Scotland) and integration of high-quality mods to expand Africa, Asia, and other continents.
