Simple Silencers
Simple Silencers adds new weapon attachements to the game for vanilla firearms. They are:
Suppressor: This is a factory made suppressor, and can be attached to either automatic rifles, or automatic handguns. This includes the M14 Assualt Rifle, M16 Assault Rifle and MSR788 Rifle; as well as the M9 Pistol, M1911 Pistol and the D-E Pistol. The suppressor can NOT be attached to non-automatic weapons. This includes all the revolvers, the MSR700 Rifle, and shotguns. Suppressors can be found in gunstores, police stations and a few other places.
Makeshift Suppresor: This has been hand-crafted, and can only be attached to automatic handguns due to the poor quality. These are unlikely to be found in gunstores, but may show up in other places. Additionally, this can be crafted by the player, provided they find the notes to do so.
I made this mod because the few silencer mods made specifically for vanilla firearms are either out-of-date, buggy with red errors, or apply to every firearm under the sun. Revolvers do not benefit from a suppressor – they exhaust from the chanber, not the barrel D: Shotgun suppressors are bulky – there is no universal size for every gun D:
Finally, I wanted to add more balance between firearms. Revolvers are easy to reload, while automatics take longer, and can jam. Shotguns are powerful from the onset, and do not need additional buffs from a suppressor mod. The MSR700 does not need a magazine (despite the game occassionally glitching one into existance) where the MSR788 does. Assault Rifle magazines can hold more bullets, but are prone to jamming, especially the M16. Speaking of which, I reccomend a mod called Three Round Burst to make the M16 less terrible.
For B42: Options are back! MSR700 is default now. Yeah, I kinda got annoyed that I couldn’t use a suppressor on my M3, so I took another stab at updating the mod. So, we’re back to attaching suppressors uniquely..
IMPORTANT
I have added a picture that gives the general idea of how far sound will carry for each suppressor. The line designates the approximate safe distance, while the positions of the character is the point where the sound can be heard by the target group.
Please note: This distance only applies to zombies with NORMAL hearing as per the "survivalist" default. Please understand that "apocalypse" zombies have RANDOMISED hearing, so different zeds will hear you from different distances!
Hopefully this will finally put rest to the misconception that this mod is not working as intended.
