Zoroastrian Resurgance
Always thought that the Zoroastrians have no chance of coming back? Not anymore!
This mod sets the middle east in an alternate history, a history where the Tabaristan Zoroastrians succeeded in pushing out the Abbasid Caliphate in the 760s. Follow the timeline of House Karen as they make the attempt to re-establish Zoroastrian Persia at it’s zenith, to reclaim the lands of Cyrus the Great.

Bookmarks:
Each of the five primary Bookmarks have one Zoroastrian character. Special new bookmark 795 is assessable by the custom game set-up button.
Zoroastrian Invasion CB:
Powerful invasion casus belli added exclusive to Zoroastrians, you can only use this cb if you have 500 piety. It’s the tribal invasion equivalent for feudal Zoroastrians. When using this cb against nomads, tribal holdings will be automatically constructed on the no holding provinces
New government:
Satrap Government added as an exclusive government for Zoroastrian religions, based on a blend of Byzantium Imperial government and Chinese Imperial Government. You must be feudal to use this government. Even if you are a Zoroastrian, you cannot have this government if you are tribal or nomad. Government provides the following features:
You no longer get wrong government opinion penalties and no religion opinion penalties.
You can revoke baron, count, duke and king tier titles without incurring tyranny, but you cannot create empire titles. (Special decision added in bookmark 769 to create Persian Empire once you completely control all de jure duchies.)
Vassals do not get upset when levies are raised in offensive wars (hidden).
Persian culture bonuses:
Since the Persians are the builders of one of the greatest ancient civilisation, I decided to give the Persian culture some character bonuses. They are:
global tax +10%
building costs -10%
construction time -10%
combat rating +5
fertility +15%
land morale +10%
health +1
New Artifacts:
As Emperor of Zoroastrian Persia, you will get three powerful artifacts to help you run your empire. You can either keep them, or donate each artifact to the Jade Emperor for 10000 Grace. Normal Persian landed lords will get the exclusive Parthian War Bow.
Prince Mayor of Khozistan:
Khozistan now has a king tier title that comes into effect from bookmark 795 onwards. Basically makes Khozistan a middle east Venice. The five Patrician families are – Karen, Bavandid, Tahirid, Samanid and Saffarid.
Retinues:
Zoroastrian iranians now have two additional retinues, Horse Archer and Cataphract retinue and War Elephants and Cataphract retinue.
Buildings:
Special castle building for Zoroastrian Iranians to get Horse Archers, Cataphract (Heavy Cavalry) and War elephants
Kariz water channels can be built in cities to increase research rate and add 1% global tax bonus
Karen Coat of Arms Decision:
If you start as Vandad Hormuzd in 769 bookmark and established the Persian Empire, you can change the default persian flag to Karen dynasty coat of arms via a special decision. From bookmark 795 onwards the Karen flag is implemented.
In case there are any modders who are interested as to how I did this:
A) I wrote in e_karen as a title in mod_titles.txt (or landed_titles.txt) using k_lombardy as a template, write in always = no
B) create the tga file in gfx/flags folder
C) In the history e_persia.txt, code in a desired year and write effect = { set_coa = e_karen }
Zoro convert decisions:
I added 2 decisions to forcefully convert selective province to zoroastrian religion and present culture (not limited to persians), all based off the monastery order decision to forcefully convert selected province. Forceful conversion of either religion or culture will result in temporary unrest so as to balance decision making. Decision is assessable by right clicking on the title coa, similarly to set crown focus decision and monastery force convert decision.
Zun Decisions:
2 decisions added related to Zun Pagan religion (This is more for Zoroastrian characters, not for Zunists characters)
Seek Warrior Concubine – Allows you to employ female Zun warrior from The Keepers of the Flame Warrior Lodge. Female warriors can also be employed as commanders. Their religion can be converted to zoroastrian without loosing lodge association. This decision is open regardless of whether you have Zunist vassals or not.
Create Zun Kingdom – In bookmarks 769 and 795, decision to create Zun kingdom is available after taking Duchy of Zabulistan by force vassalization cb. This is a decision suited for having Zunist subjects, and it will only be available if the Duke of Zabulistan follows Zun or Zun reformed religion. You can choose not to do so.
DLC requirements:
Old Gods dlc is a must in order to play as zoroastrians. Charlemenge dlc unlocks 769 bookmark, the rest are for extra flavour.

If you are not a modder and wish to play this mod with the mods that are incompatible, I can offer you guides to help you edit the txt files. I do not have conclave dlc, so I might not be able to help you with mods that work with conclave.
Trivia:
In case you are wondering, this mod is essentially version 2 of Zoroastrian Karen 769, which was originally taken down since it’s outdated. And yes, you get replenishing doom stacks with additional starting gold, prestige and piety that’s featured in the old mod.
Installation instructions:
In case steam messes with the zip file installation, here’s how to manually activate it in 4 steps. If you still can’t get it right, comment with full detail of what you have done so far and I’ll try to help you out as best I can.
Step 1: Go to Documents/Pandorax Interactive/Crusader Kings 2/mod
Step 2: Locate zoroastrian resurgance.mod.mod
Step 3: rename zoroastrian resurgance.mod.mod to zoroastrian resurgance.mod
Step 4: start the game, check the mod in the mod tab and play

Update 2nd April: Kariz building edited to provide research bonus since the disease resistance mechanic only applies to hospital buildings. Duchy of Tigris is now back with two provinces, Republic of Khozistan now only has one province.
