DMC: Definitive Multiplayer Balance Changes
Originally made for own use.
There are some things that simply annoy me concerning multiplayer balance, and nobody has bothered to fix them.
So I did. [Note: most changes also apply to Campaign]
Lots of changes; Most important are
– reduced Bonus vs. Cavalry and Elephants on precursor javelins, as well as nerfing their accuracy; Volleys of levy freemen javelins no longer delete elite cav or naked warriors.
– Added Charge Defense against Large to all mid tier Spears – now there is a point to bring them
– adds a substantial missile block chance to shield wall, shield screen and hoplite wall, defensive formations have more situations they are useful in
– small roster balance changes (Price adjustments, small stat changes); more units now has a Purpose
(Example: the regular numidian cavalry is now useful in melee, thx HeirofCarthage for the Idea)
– reduced accuracy for cheap slingers
– Increased Unit Size for pikes as well as pike drop speed, harder to flank, but even squishier now
– Nerfed Camel Cataphracts by reducing acceleration and turn speed (in-between super heavy shock and very heavy shock cav now)
– Camel Archers have a bit more range and damage to compete with regular Horse Archers
– Poison Shot and Special Artillery is somewhat useful now – Effects last a bit longer
– Fixed a bunch of unit weights being displayed incorrectly on the Unit cards; also made some changes
– Some Roster additions of unused Units and Mercenaries to Factions like Colchis or Cimmeria
– Garrisson Units are larger than normal Infantry and throw rocks
– Less Spaghetti for skirmishers
– several peltasts are more useful as hybrid units, all javelins have slightly higher fire rate
– Javelinmen have a 360 degree of fire
– many light(ish) cavalry units now have a few javelins they can aim, giving them more versatility, without making dedicated skirmisher cavaly obsolete (Also: significantly more mass for light melee cavalry!)
– All dedicated Sword Cav now has a small Bonus vs infantry
– All spears and hopites have slightly higher regular and armour piercing damage, giving them more of a chance against mid and high tier swords
– Spearmen have slightly faster attack animations – still slightly slower than sword attack animations
– readded slight flanking morale penalty for units
– Underused General Abilities have been buffed (Rally, Intimidate etc.)
– Rapid Advance lasts much longer and no longer makes a unit exhausted, only winded!
– Terrain features now also effects unit stats, not just speed
– Larger Maps
– Graphical fix: Iberian soliferrum javelins are displayed correctly during flight
– army losses morale penalty kicks in slightly later
