Shenyang J-11

The J-11 is a heavy twin-engine multirole fighter aircraft developed by China based on the Russian Su-27SK fighter. Produced by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation under the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), it is primarily designed for air superiority missions, while also being capable of ground attack capabilities. As one of the mainstay aircraft of the PLAAF, it undertakes tasks such as air defence and long-range strike missions. In 1991, China imported the Su-27SK fighter from Russia, and in 1996, it acquired the complete production line for the Su-27. Within four years, China transitioned from assembling imported components to domestic production. By 2002, the localization of the Su-27SK fighter was gradually achieved, and it was designated as the J-11 fighter. After the production of the J-11/J-11A under license, China developed the J-11B variant, equipped with domestically produced avionics and engines. The J-11 represents a significant achievement in China’s aviation industry and marks the first step toward independently designing and developing an all-weather, multirole third-generation air superiority fighter.

J-11
Imported as complete aircraft from Russia starting in 1991, and later assembled in China from Russian-supplied components. These aircraft use Russian-made avionics, engines, and weapons.
J-11A
Imported as complete aircraft from Russia starting in 1991, and later assembled in China from Russian-supplied components. These aircraft use Russian-made avionics, engines, and weapons. They are basically Chinese-made Su-27SK, with the additional capability of deploying R-77 missiles.
J-11B
Starting in 2000, China utilized domestic technology to upgrade the Su-27 airframe, achieving full localization of the airframe, engines, avionics, and weapons. The J-11B incorporates new composite materials to improve airframe design, reduce structural weight, and extend service life. It is powered by the domestically produced WS-10B "Taihang" turbofan engine. The avionics and sensors were upgraded with domestic digital integrated avionics system, featuring a glass cockpit, a quadruplex digital fly-by-wire system, and the Type 1493 planar array fire-control radar. The J-11B’s primary air-to-air weapons are the PL-12 active radar-homing missile and the PL-8B infrared-homing missile, with the addition of precision-guided ground attack munitions.
J-11BG
Starting in 2017, the J-11B underwent a mid-life upgrade (MLU) and partial restart of serial production. The aircraft was equipped with a new-generation integrated avionics and fire-control system, including an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, and can carry the PL-15 active radar-homing missile and the PL-10 IR-homing missile.

- Flight performance similar to the Su-27 fighter
- Multirole capabilities for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions
- Large combat radius
- Excellent sensor performance
- Strong payload capacity
**Caution**
The sensors and air-to-air weapons of the J-11BG are designed for next-generation air combat platforms of the 2010-2020s. In-game, they may exhibit overwhelmingly powerful performance, potentially producing unwanted effects in gameplay. Use with caution.
