A Long War of the Chosen class rebalance. Aims to salvage weaker or poorly performing builds while preserving existing strong playstyles as much as possible.
Detailed Changes
- Reworked the Technician’s middle tree. Added the **Incendiary Rockets** skill (deals fire and panic in a medium area of effect). Reworked the **Shredder Rocket** skill (single-target high-damage shred with a cover-destruction effect). **Fire and Steel** now also increases primary weapon damage.
- Reworked the Specialist’s third tree. Added the **Serum Protocol** skill. Enhanced **Neutralizing Protocol** (now also grants 1-turn immunity to poison, fire, and acid). Slightly increased **Combat Protocol**’s damage. **Capacitor Discharge** now has a 50% chance to stun.
- Reworked the Grenadier’s middle tree and fine-tuned the bottom tree. Replaced the vanilla Banish with the Sapper class.
- Reworked the Gunner’s middle tree. Added a brand-new capstone skill: **War Cry**.
- Reworked the Ranger’s middle tree and fine-tuned both the top and bottom trees. Added the **Stray Shots** skill (the first missed reaction shot each turn is upgraded to a graze). Enhanced **Scrap Metal** (now also slightly increases primary and secondary weapon damage).
- Significantly reworked the Sharpshooter’s bottom tree to improve the Snap Shot playstyle’s effectiveness.
- Reworked the Assault’s middle and bottom trees and fine-tuned the top tree. Added the **Disrupting Current** skill. Enhanced **Guerrilla Tactics** (learning Guerrilla Tactics now also reduces the range penalty for shotguns by 66%).
- Fine-tuned the Shinobi’s top tree.
- Reworked the SPARK’s middle and bottom trees and fine-tuned the top tree. Added the **Destructive Strike** skill (a melee strike substitute that deals environmental damage in an area). Added the **Mechanical Upgrade** skill (provides bonus attributes across the board and 2 bonus melee damage). Added a Squadsight playstyle option for the shooting-focused path, and adjusted the skill order for the heavy weapons path.
- Restored the SPARK’s flamethrower to help address the melee SPARK’s overwatch ambush problem.
- Modified SPARK’s heavy and light armor. Heavy armor now grants a heavy weapon slot. Light armor now grants **Hit and Run** and **Lightning Reflexes** at respective tiers, and reduces the cooldown of **Strike** by 1.
- Reworked the Skirmisher’s middle tree. Added the **Executioner** skill (+3 melee damage). Added the **Judgment** skill (reduces the cooldown of grappling hook-type skills by 1). Improves the grappling hook playstyle.
- Reworked the Reaper’s bottom tree. Enhanced the **Soul Harvest** skill (now extends Shadow’s duration on kills, with a 3-turn cooldown), improving the Shadow Lance playstyle. Upgraded the **Poisoned Throwing Knives** skill (throwing knives now apply poison and 1 point of shred). Reverted **Proximity Mine**’s uses back to 4.
- Modified the Templar’s middle tree. Added the **Phase Walk** skill (when activated, the Templar gains a Ghost Armor-like phasing effect that lasts the entire battle). Upgraded the **Psychic Connection** skill (no longer drops psionic loot; instead has a chance to gain Focus on kills).
- Reverted unreasonable nerfs to heavy weapon range. Reverted unreasonable nerfs to Chain Lightning’s range. Reverted the restriction to allow SPARKs to deploy while wounded.
- Reverted unreasonable early-game crystal and alloy acquisition rates.
- Slightly increased the intimidation chance for SPARKs and Skirmishers.
- Slightly increased Void Lance’s damage. Slightly increased Acid Grenade’s shred and armor penetration.
- Changed the default weapon for Technicians and Grenadiers to the SMG.
