Shōkaku-class
With China and the Soviet Union building up their navy, the time came for the JMSDF to expand their capabilities in the sea and air. With enough bickering from the politicians on how to defend Japan from these threats, it was decided to expand the JMSDF with two new supercarriers. With the endorsement from the USA, construction began on the first carriers since the end of WW2. These two new supercarriers would be named Shōkaku and Zuikaku, bearing the same names as the feared Shōkaku class from WW2.
