Bowser’s right-hand man, Kamek the Magikoopa, joins Rivals of Aether for Extended Workshop’s (from Mario) Jam! This menace of a magus possesses a simple yet powerful kit that revolves around setting up nasty tricks, charging up spells, and siccing his minions on you.

Special Moves

Neutral Special: Magikoopa Magicks

A chargeable projectile that can be stored by pressing PARRY. The uncharged version is weak, but useful for zoning, while the charged version is handy for scoring surprise KOs. In addition, you can use your magical charge to enhance some of your other specials.

Down Special: Summon Toady

Kamek calls one of his personal minions, a Toady, to the stage, who then hovers in the air on the lookout. When in range of an opponent in hitstun, he will grab and kidnap them, allowing Kamek to extend his aerial combos.

The Toady can also be polymorphed into a useful item with certain normals that release a circular wave of magic (BAir, DAir, and Jab 3) as well as his other specials depending on how much magical charge from NSpecial he has stored. Normally, the Toady is turned into a green Koopa shell as a projectile– but when Kamek has his Magikoopa Magicks charged up, it consumes the charge and instead turns him into an explosive Bob-omb! You can hold PARRY during the startup of these moves to prevent yourself from consuming your charge.

Forward Special: Broomstick Dash

Kamek hops on his broomstick and rides through the air, going into pratfall afterwards.

Holding SPECIAL during startup while you have full Magikoopa Magicks stored consumes it and slightly increases this move’s distance while Kamek leaves behind a trail of damaging projectiles. It also removes the pratfall from this move! Colliding with a Toady while using this move has Kamek polymorph him while also becoming actionable and gaining a boost in movement.

Up Special: Vanish

Kamek teleports a short distance in the direction held, going into pratfall if used in the air. While teleporting, he is completely invincible to all attacks for a short duration.

In addition, he can also consume a full charge of Magikoopa Magicks to teleport twice in succession if the SPECIAL button is held as he reappears.

Other Notable Moves

Ustrong has Kamek summon a magical ring that closes in on opponents. The more the move is charged, the more rings are conjured, up to a maximum of 3, increasing the amount of hits dealt.

Uair is normally 3 hits, but can be extended to up to 5 hits if the ATTACK button is held.

Kamek has a standard taunt, a down taunt, and a uh… "secret" taunt.
