Accurate Phenotype Groups
Overview:
This mod aims to represent as accurately as possible different human phenotype groups, mainly based on the research found on the webpage humanphenotypes. Thus offering a more realistic and visualy pleasant appeareance of the game characters based on their location and culture. This mod currently adds 87 new ethnicities to to the game, and modifies every culture to use them.
Disclaimers:
As per the release version each culture is tied to a single phenotype and each phenotype is represented by an in game ethnicity, this is obviously wrong and requires fixing. Accurately portraying the phenotypical variety of every culture in the game in a realistical way requires much more research than i have done at the moment. This is at the end a goal for this mod, yet not a priority at the moment.
Some cultures have a wrong phenotype assigned to them. I did as just enough ethnicities to fill the map in order to have a decent release version. Some cultures got away with some similar or vicinal phenotype, especially those that are typical of a rather smaller area. This is a high priority and i plan to increase the number of ethnicities available in the next updates.
Bookmark and predefined characters have not been modified. Also a rather low priority for now, since I would have to do research on each character at a time.
Variety (within the same phenotype) is being generated by a +/- range to each gene (ammount varying by gene). The beauty traits currently dont change the genes at creation (only those that are overriden by default)
Phenotype names can be ambiguous and sometimes misleading. I decided to use mostly the names from the webpage forementioned, but that may change in the future in pos of more intuitive namings from the game’s perspective.
Issues:
Some ethnicities are being generated with wrong hairstyles. This only affects character creation, as the cultures would override them for in game created characters.
Some ethnicities have wrong genes associated to them, especially those unavailable in character creation.
There is a couple of ethnicities that I personally didnt like the end result and need revision.
