Landless Opportunities: Playable Courtiers
This mod introduces a character interaction for landless players to request employment in a ruler’s court as a courtier/advisor. You will receive monthly pay and a decision will appear whilst you are in the capital to attend court and perform various duties. This mod is meant to expand on the options/variety for landless characters and give an incentive to stick around one region/employer.
Features:
- Landless players can join a ruler’s court in an advisory capacity
- Help develop the county, mediate with different vassal types, strategise during an ongoing war, and more
- Become the court physician and treat an ailing court, become a bodyguard and manage security, or duel other knights as your liege’s champion
- A bunch of "message pop-up" events so you gain passive rewards whilst at court, without taking up all your time
- A few random "dilemma" events where you can choose from various options
- Request minor titles from and present artifacts to your employer to earn some renown
- Spend prestige to add your employer to your patron’s list
How To Start/Things To Know:
- Join a rulers court via the "Seek Court Employment" interaction. Higher tier courts have greater requirements. Knowing the language of the court, having high skills, being famous/devoted and working up from the court of a vassal can help.
- Use the attend court decision to start court service schemes and access everything else.
- Your employer will complain if you leave the court for too long. You can request leave in order to complete contracts. Alternatively, at 100 opinion your employer won’t pester you to return.
- You can join any rulers court, including barons, however you will only be able to ask for court positions for kingdom/empire titles. This is because you’ll need to essentially become a landless vassal (and the ‘landless title’ is duchy tier). You’ll be able to request council postions and potentially even become the regent.
No overwrites or changes to the GUI so should be compatible with pretty much everything. This includes total conversions. It seems to work with Elder Kings. AGOT and Godherja.
The lower this is in your load order the better. It should be save game compatible. Make a backup to be safe.
- When you join a kingdom / empire rank court, you will get the ‘Duke’ form of address.
- As caravan master, or generally if included in liege’s entourage, pay attention since an event may cause you to be separated without a notification. May need to assign self to an army to get back home.
There are likely other bugs / localisation and balance issues.
If there are any issues/suggestions let me know and I’ll look into them as soon as possible. New features are added to the Test Version before this.
Does it work in multiplayer? It should do but might be missing some localisation on the ruler’s end. Let me know and will fix.
Can I become Vizier? As an adventurer, no. If you’ve "disbanded camp", yes.
Does this mod work with the other big landless mods? It is fully compatible with Real Freedom – Really Landless and I highly recommend it if you plan to "disband camp" and play a truly landless character.
