With this building it’s easier to afford and recruit mercenaries. Mercenaries are important for Syracuse because they can improve its armies.
Now, with this building, it’s easier to hire Mercenary Samnite Warriors and Mercenary Campanian Cavalry, two great units that, otherwise, take so much time to replenish.
Great Mercenary Camp
- Level 5 Military building
- Only in Capital
- -30% Upkeep costs for mercenaries (factionwide)
- +300% provincial mercenary replenishment (in the province where it’s present)

- Thorax Pikemen
- Italian Noble Cavalry
- Italian Noble Infantry
- Picked Peltast (Black Sea Colonies DLC required)
- Hippotoxotes
Changes:
- Thorax Hoplites: recruitable from Lev.3 Barracks
- Thureos Hoplites: recruitable from Lev.2 Barracks, cavalry counter tactics, better charge bonus
