Description:

Craft Spare Engine Parts yourself!

This mod adds the magazine "The Machinist". Find it and read it! This adds three different recipes for making spare engine parts. Alternatively, you can unlock them by reaching a certain level in each required skill without ever reading the magazine (B42+ only).

  1. Needs metal working skill and more metal parts
  2. Needs mechanics skill and some additional uncommon parts
  3. Needs electronics skill and additional electronic parts

It can be used for single player but the true reason I created this is multiplayer. Because often vehicles of entire towns are stripped of their engines to get these juicy spare parts, and this mod is meant to help with exactly this issue.

Version and language support

This mod is compatible with B41 & B42. It is safe to add or remove in existing games. In version 1.3 English, German, Russian, French, Spanish (ES and AR), Traditional Chinese, Hungarian, Italian, Dutch, Polish, and Portuguese (PTBR) are supported, but on player requests and with a little help I will definitely add more.

Future of the mod

As B42 progresses, crafting is expected to get a great revamp, and a lot more recipes and items will be added. In response to this, the recipes in this mod will likely be changed in the future to better match B42’s new crafting system.

Reuploading and modpacks

For server owners it can be very useful to have their own modpack. That’s why I allow reuploads of my mod as part of a modpack for a server if credit is given and if the modpack is unlisted on steam and only shared with the server members. Under all other circumstances please abstain from reoploads.

Important: balancing settings

When installing the mod, it comes as four separate ones named "expensive – original", "moderate", "cheap", and "cheapest". These four mods all do basically the same, but the cost, results, and requirements of the crafting recipes are hugely different as can be seen in the images above. This allows you to choose a difficulty, how much impact you want this mod to have on your gameplay, and how much you would like to spare those poor car engines from looting.
Only choose and activate one of the four mods. If more are activated, it won’t break the game, but it will cause a recipe redundancy.

I chose to implement difficulty / balancing settings this way and not via actual options within a single mod in order to prevent the need to add the ModOptions mod as a dependency. I have done this to avoid breaking people’s save games and servers which already used the CEP mod before Version 1.2 and haven’t got the ModOptions mod.
