Enemy Action Visualizations
This mod aims to improve visualization for enemy actions that are happening or are about to happen. It does this by adding a guard panel above the agent panel, where the player can see in what order the enemy will act next turn, and by showing the guards’ animated portraits while they are taking actions. While guards are unseen, their icons and portraits are obscured by a question mark.
New guard panel above the agent panel that always displays the currently calculated turn order by the game from right to left with guard icons. You can choose if you want to immediately see all icons for every guard, only see icons for visible guards or only for guards that you have seen at least once this mission. In any case, unseen guards are ALWAYS obscured by hiding name and icon with a question mark.
This panel also shows several current statuses of guards: Which guard is currently acting, colored background like in the mission summary (grey for undisturbed, amber for distracted, red for alerted) and if they are currently ready to shoot (overwatch icon).
Icons are also fully interactive while the guard it is displaying is seen. You can hover guards both in-world an on-panel, and the corresponding other part will be highlighted. Clicking on an icon pans the camera to that guard. If you are using the Selectable Guards mod, you can select guards by clicking on the icon.
The turn order prediction isn’t a 100% perfect, but it’s pretty close I would say. It can sometimes get a little weird with modded content and special guard abilities though.
While a guard is taking actions, their portrait will be shown in the place of the agent portrait if there is currently no other portrait shown there. This will not disturb player actions. Portraits are also recolored while a guard is displayed (can be disabled).
Finally, this mod has an option to make the player camera track sound that is heard by the player on the enemy turn, which will be mostly footsteps. This feature never activates on the player turn.
This mod also adds the missing icons for vanilla OMNI guards.
Requires Sim Constructor by Cyberboy 2000.
I don’t know of any mod incompatibilities. If you notice any, please let me know and I will take a look.
On the top of icon_panel.lua there are some constants for the layout of the icon panel that can be adjusted, if so desired.
