Dwarven Core Harvesting
This mod adds a new building, the ‘Magma Dredger’, that dwarves can use to dredge up rocks and ores from the floor of the magma sea.
All dredgeable rocks and ores are magma-safe, except for garnierite which was added since the earth’s core famously has a lot of nickel. Only cheaper metals and iron are obtainable by dredging, but…
Some of the dredged rocks can be ground at a powered mill. Some will yield more valuable ores, like gold and platinum!
There is a tiny chance of special ores and diamonds when grinding the rarest stones, like Kimberlite, but you will need a steady source of obsidian from an obsidian caster to do so.
Dredging uses the Pump Operator skill. Skilled pump operators will dredge faster!
This mod is intended to make some metals renewable in a mostly balanced for vanilla way, so you can make an industry of metal trinkets, furniture and arms for trade and furnishing a glorious mountainhome no matter what tile you embark on.
If you have Cavern Aquaculture by KordoL installed, you can also fish for two new magma-dwelling fish in the magma sea using the magma dredger!
Perfect for thematic dwarf fishing without having to worry about embark zones with limited fish populations or no water sources.
