Rise and Fall
"Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."
Rise and Fall is a modular Crusader Kings III framework built to make long campaigns more unpredictable, unstable, and story-driven.
Every major feature is controlled through game rules, allowing you to shape the experience exactly how you want. Use the full system, disable what you dislike, or turn the mod into a lightweight utility pack.
This mod is designed to create pressure, drama, and long-form storytelling through invasions, instability, realm collapse, title automation, and AI-driven expansion.
- Unlimited Men-at-Arms
Removes the Men-at-Arms cap for all rulers through an optional game rule. The AI benefits too. - Auto Title Creation & Giveaway
Use a decision to automatically create and distribute duchies or kingdoms, greatly reducing late-game micromanagement. - Legitimist Invasions
Adventurers and claimants can become genuine threats. Army size scales with character stats, target realm strength, and other dynamic factors. - Persistent Claimants
Claimant armies can marry, have children, and survive for generations. They may invade in 10, 30, or even 50 years. You will never know when they might return. - Realm Stability
A dynamic stability system that can make or break empires. A weak ruler, child monarch, or unstable realm can spiral into disaster. - Low Stability Events
When stability collapses, chaos erupts. Major crises can unfold, including the Three Kingdoms-inspired Warlord Event, where vassals choose between loyalty and rebellion. - Fix Bordergore
Administrative rulers can clean up internal border chaos with a dedicated interaction. - AI Title Creation
A game rule that forces AI rulers to create titles below their rank. Emperors can still form new empire and kingdom titles. - Fort Map Mode
Highlights forts on the map so you can quickly identify important siege targets. - Unlimited Vassal Limit
Optional game rule that removes the vassal limit for vassals only. Independent rulers remain unchanged.
CK3 is brilliant, but long campaigns can eventually feel too safe. Adventurer camps sit idle. Major rebellions rarely happen. The AI often lacks ambition.
While testing with the Game of Thrones mod, I saw thirty dragonlords and not one tried to claim the Iron Throne.
No danger.
No drama.
No rise.
No fall.
Rise and Fall changes that by creating threats that emerge naturally from the world.
With this mod, you can expect:
- More dangerous claimants
- More dragon fights in total conversion mods
- The rise and collapse of powerful realms
- More suffering for weak rulers
- More chaos when stability falls apart
- Fully compatible with vanilla CK3.
- Generally compatible with most mods.
- Conflicts may occur with mods that modify the character UI because of the Stability UI element.
- If you use another UI mod without a compatibility patch, enable the Right Click Stability game rule to view stability values without UI conflicts.
- AGOT
- EK2
- PoD
- Character UI Overhaul
- RUI
Officially integrated. Place RUI below Rise and Fall in your load order.
The default game rules are my recommended way to play the mod.
That said, I like giving control to the player. Every campaign is different, and not everyone wants the same amount of chaos, invasions, instability, or automation.
You can use the mod as intended, fine-tune individual systems, or turn most features off entirely. The customization is there so you can decide exactly how much of Rise and Fall you want in your game.

⚠️ Load Order Tip:
Place Rise and Fall at the very bottom of your load order.
Mods that alter the character screen, such as AGOT or EK2, may override the Stability UI unless a compatibility patch is used. If you do not want to use a patch, you can enable the Right Click Stability game rule instead.
