Even after the conflicts ended, the T-54 continued to form the backbone of the Vietnamese armour fleet, serving in training, defense, and strategic reserve roles. To extend its service life and maintain battlefield relevance, Vietnam launched a comprehensive modernization program with Elbit Systems, the T-54BV or T-54M3, upgrading the tank with improved armor, fire control systems, engines, and weaponry, ensuring it remains a formidable asset for the country’s armored forces.
