Pinned Down: Combat Immersion


Why this exists

Firefights aren’t laser tag. Most rounds miss, but they still
do work: they rattle you, throw off your aim, and make you think twice
about peeking. Pinned Down brings that pressure to both
players and AI, so fights breathe, stall, and surge
instead of devolving into instant headshots.


What it does

For the player:
When rounds crack close, you feel it. Eye blink, mild blur and
desaturation, tunnel vision at the edges, camera shake, and rising
aim wobble that decays when fire lets up. All of it scales by stance
— standing takes the full hit, crouching takes half, prone takes a
quarter. A round that actually connects hits full strength regardless.
Friendly fire from your own squad doesn’t trigger suppression effects.
Every effect is tunable or disableable in Addon Options.

For AI:
AI under fire go prone outdoors, crouch indoors, degrade in accuracy
and courage, and issue suppressive bursts at known targets. They
recover gradually when fire lets up. A safety corridor check prevents
suppressive fire when friendlies are in the line of fire.

For mission makers and server admins:
Granular per-behavior controls let you exclude your squad AI from
any combination of: stance changes, skill degradation, and suppressive
fire — without touching the enemy AI or the player effects. Full CBA
settings suite. MP-safe. Low performance cost.


Setup

Start a mission → Options → Addon Options → Pinned Down.
First test with CBA_A3 + Pinned Down only to establish a baseline.
Load order: CBA → other mods → Pinned Down.

Compatibility

Mike Force and Random infantry player effects dont work on respawn.- investigating fixed
