Ralsei
Prince of the Dark, Ralsei, joins Rivals of Aether!
Ralsei is a lightweight character who relies on building up damage with his multi-hitting moves, before finishing a stock with a strong or special moves. He has relatively fast speed both aerially and on the ground, allowing him to be versatile in his options.
Main Mechanic (Tension Points):
Just like in DELTARUNE, Ralsei has the ability to gain TP through landing hits, successfully defending attacks, and grazing! He is able to graze attacks during his dodge, allowing him to gain small amounts of TP, while evading attacks. Ralsei uses this TP for his various special moves.
Special Moves:
Neutral Special (HealPrayer/DualHeal) – Heal Prayer is his signature ability as a healer, being able to heal a target. This can be used an an offensive move as it can stun enemies, while healing some of their damage. If there are no enemies in his radius, he will be healed instead. This move can be charged in order to have a greater radius and stun time if an opponent is hit, or an increased amount of damage healed to himself (with a maximum of 15%). However, the longer it is charged, the more TP the move will cost. The move will then enter a cooldown depending on how long the move had been charged for.
Once Ralsei reaches 100%, he can use a stronger form of the attack DualHeal. Unlike HealPrayer, DualHeal heals only himself and not other fighters (unless they are on the same team). However, it heals a much higher amount while the move is active (if not interrupted, a maxiumum of 30%). After being used, the move enters a long cooldown, where it cannot be used for a while.
Forward Special (Pacify/Sleepmist) – Pacify can be used as both a way for Ralsei to initiate combos, and KO opponents. During the move, he will charge up his attack, allowing him to launch a projectile that travels in front of him. Pressing too early or too late will result in him launching a weaker projectile that deals no damage and stuns enemies briefly. However, a well timed special button press will release a damaging projectile that sends opponents to sleep, for a higher TP cost.
At 100% TP, Ralsei will use another similar move, SleepMist. Unlike Pacify, SleepMist leaves a cloud in an area for a while, sending enemies to sleep for an even longer amount of time.
Down Special (FluffyGuard) – FluffyGuard is a move that can be charged by holding the special button. The move lets Ralsei spawn up to four fluffs that cost 6% each. This will create a hitbox that protects ralsei from most projectiles, while also giving him some soft armour, which increases depending on how many fluffs have been summoned.
Up Special (Ground) – Using Up Special on the ground will summon Susie, who charges up to perform a strong attack. Susie has a set amount of HP, as well as a maximum amount of damage she can take while she is active. If Susie takes too much damage at once, she is downed, and is temporarily unable to be summoned. If she runs out of HP, she is defeated and is knocked out for an even longer period of time. Susie herself can also be healed instead of Ralsei if she is in the heal radius of HealPrayer, or if Ralsei uses DuelHeal, which will heal Susie regardless of if she is summoned or not, and even if Susie runs out of HP. Susie can also block certain projectiles, making it difficult for certain characters to approach Ralsei, preventing him from taking damage in some cases.
Up Special (Air) – If used in the air, Ralsei can summon Susie to throw him. The strength of the throw can be determined by how long the special button is held down, and can be seen with how red the arrow appears. After being thrown, Susie will fall until either reaching the ground, or falling off the stage (which would cause her to take 10 damage).
If Susie is unable to be summoned, Ralsei be slightly boosted into the air, which will put him into pratfall and make him vulnerable.
I mainly decided to make this character because there were basically no others made yet for Ralsei’s design post chapter 1 (at least none I could find), but I still somewhat hope someone else also takes a shot at making him themselves (hopefully one better than this one).
Relatively speaking, this character has not taken as long to make as the other characters I have made, so there may be bugs present that I have missed (please let me know if that is the case).
Regardless, I hope you enjoy playing as him!
