Dry That Food!
A lightweight mod to add the ability to dry grain, flowers, herbs, vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, berries and some additional perishables.
Instructions:
Step 1. Build the Portable Mini Plant Dryer (found under the crafting menu category "Preserve").
Step 2. Acquire vegetable/fruit/mushroom/berries with enough "hunger value", they need to be fresh or stale.
Step 3. Dry that food.
Q: But how do I know how much a food’s hunger value is?
A: The hunger value is the "- 6 hunger" you see when you hover your mouse over a food item in your inventory.
Q: How much "hunger value" do I need for each of the drying recipes?
A: Generally the same as the "hunger value" listed on the PZ Wiki. The exact amount is also listed in the drying rack’s ui when you look at the recipe to dry the food.
The "base" banana on PZWiki does -16 hunger, to dry a banana you need one or more bananas that add up to a total of -16 hunger total.
Example: Imagine three bananas, two of them with -6 hunger and one with -4 hunger gives: -(6+6+4)= -16 hunger. This lets you do the drying recipe for 1 x Dried Banana, using up all three bananas and essentially consolidating them.
Q: Why doesn’t this mod use the vanilla drying racks that already exist in the game?
A: Because update B42.11.0 broke this entire mod when it changed the drying racks crafting logic. It imposed a "crafting rule" that only one input item can be "stored" in the drying racks, meaning you couldn’t dry multiple input items (3 partial bananas) into one dried output item (dried banana). And I thought this absolutely sucked. So now you will have a very small drying rack that is portable and entirely separate from the vanilla drying racks.
No compatibility issues should be possible but please inform me if any come up.
