Danymok’s Vanilla Expansion (15 New Factions)
This mod aims to expand the game’s list of factions while keeping them true to the vanilla feel of Rome Remastered but also not feeling bare bones. This mod currently adds 15 new factions, and each of them have unique units and their own flair. This mod also comes packaged with my "Rosters Expanded" mod, so all the base game factions have updated rosters from that mod, and the new factions were balanced around the expanded rosters.

Each of these factions were made with care so they fit the look of the vanilla game and feel unique. Every new faction has a detailed unit roster that fits the culture of that faction and feels different from every other faction in the game. And you may notice some of the banners look similar to their Rome 2 Total War counterparts (such as Pergamon’s) but I did not directly take the designs from Rome 2, I remade them to fit the Rome Remastered textures. Another big change with the factions is that the vanilla "Greek Cities" faction has been split apart into multiple Greek states, and the "Greek Cities" faction itself has been converted into Rhodes, with an updated roster and start location to fit its new identity.
Also, I want to note here that Sparta works in a unique way; their citizen units are super strong for their tier, but they can only be trained in Sparta (and Syracuse) while the rest of the map can only train helot/Perioikoi units, to represent the fact that Sparta’s citizen force was small and only recruited from Sparta, as well as balance Sparta’s otherwise super strong roster.
Combined, the 15 new factions contain 315 units, and as previously mentioned, this mod also has my "Rosters Expanded" mod built into it, adding another 165 units to the base game factions, so even the vanilla factions get a new makeover. Every one of these new units have 3D rendered UI cards that fit the style of the vanilla game, as well as properly colored unit textures that are consistent with their faction and the style of the vanilla game.
This mod uses the vanilla campaign map mesh, but it adds +46 new regions to make space for the new factions and make previously sparse areas more lively, without going overboard.
Officially, I made this mod alone. I made all the textures, factions, regions/changes to the map, and made the final game design decisions, but I received a lot of help.
Thanks to the Rome Total War Modding community for constant help and support along the way:
-Lanjane: helped with sounds (narrator/announcer and unit voices) and strat map empty banner model
-emperorofthegreatunknown: help with strat map empty banner model
-Dagovax: helped me set up being able do edit/add regions to the map, and adding new factions to the game with his guide, helped me add tattoos to the Arab face textures
-Eduardo Sousa: Help with unit models, unit textures, strat map models, removing unit texture artifacting, and UI cards
-Solón de Atenas and El Santo Padre: Help with ridding unit texture artifacting completely
-Makanyane: Helped with fixing unit texture artifacting
-Eduardo Sousa and Artacord: Helped me immensely in learning how to make custom unit models, Eduardo specifically had a useful guide on making custom unit models
-Feral, not only for making this awesome remaster and increasing its capability to be modded, but also for providing many tools that made modding the game much easier

AN IMPORTANT NOTE is that this mod will not work well if your graphics color scheme is set to vibrant. The new unit textures won’t match well, some of the units will be using the wrong textures, and the UI cards for the new units will be the default grey peasants. This is an issue with the game engine, so I can’t really do much about it. So just use the realistic unit color scheme!

PLEASE let me know if there are any problems/bugs with the mod, such as missing textures, not being able to train units in the campaign, or anything else, so I can get to fixing it.
Thanks for checking out this mod, hope you guys enjoy it! I would appreciate a thumbs up 🙂

A huge reason I made this mod was to provide a modding resource for other modders wishing to build upon what I made. I enjoy making vanilla styled units and faction banners, but admittedly I am not great at other aspects of modding such as adding new buildings, customizing the map, etc. So it’s always great to see other modders use my stuff to make cooler stuff. Of course, just make sure to leave credit where credit is due!
