Description:
Want your noble dynasties to continue to grow and serve the realm throughout your campaign, but tired of playing matchmaker for the entire Kingdom?

Until there is a dedicated automation option added for noble marriages (or if paradox decide what they actually want to do with them), I made this mod as a work around. Every month, the game will check if you have unmarried nobles in the realm, and pair up eligible bachelors and bachelorettes for marriage. The pairings are made at random from eligible candidates.

By default, eligible candidates must:

-be between the ages of 18 and 25
-be part of the nobility estate, or be a part of the crown estate, but not be in the line of succession
-both a male and female candidate need to be present for the event to fire
-Not be close relatives of one another, naturally

This mod also adds a new situation, where you can configure automatic marriage policies where you can customise your experience:

– Marriage events can be toggled, either having a pop-up, or being invisible
– You can set a population limit for the court, preventing further marriages if you have too many characters in your country, and permitting population control events to fire, quietly retiring unemployed courtiers.
– Three options for slowing down the rate of marriages: allow all eligible characters to marry, Allowing only characters who do not have close relatives married, limiting family sizes, or Allowing only a certain number of marriages per dynasty, slowing family growth to the maximum whilst maintaining lineages.
– Enable automatic marriage for characters from non-noble estates (as they do not use dynasties, characters from other estates cannot marry if too many close relatives are married, for performance sake)
– Enable automatic marriages for the AI, allowing AI countries to preserve dynasties just as you can

FAQ:

Is this ironman compatible?

No, sadly. events change the checksum.

Save game compatible?

yes

Compatible with x mod?

Should be. There may be some problems with "Marry a Local Noble", or other mods that add characters by interactions and events, which may cause a character to marry nobody, but there is nothing game breaking.

Will this cause performance issues?

Yes, more characters means more to process, and due to how EU5 handles its UI, certain menus struggle when loading many character portraits. The "Children need Education" alert is one notorious example, so it is reccomended that you set population limits accordingly, and consider using this mod alongside the auto education mod.

Does this include Royal Marriages?

no, Royal Marriages between dynasty members in line to inherit are not automated. Characters eligible for a royal marriage will send a separate reminder event, so that you can still do your own royal marriages without needing to monitor who is coming of age

Why from 18? Characters can marry from 16!

So you have a two year window if you really want to organise a specific wedding with someone.

Will this mod fill up all spouse slots for religions that allow polygamy?

No. It only checks to see if a character is married, so will only ever select one spouse.

Won’t I get a ton of tiny, randomly-generated dynasties that I don’t care about?

Possibly. Mercenary characters are not valid for auto marriage, but characters spawned by other interactions and events are.

Hey! I’ve got this mod running, and I’ve seen it working, but there’s still tons of unmarried nobles! What Gives?

Because this isn’t a true automation, the number of marriages occuring will be bottlenecked by the number of events that will occur. At present, up to 28 noble marriages can happen in a month – as constrained by the shortest month of februray – if you can stomach the event spam. If you still have too many unmarried nobles after that well – you simply have too many of them!

My Game is horrible and Laggy now. Can you help me purge the court?

If the lag has got to the point where it is starting to ruin your game, you can manually trigger the population control events to thanos snap your courtiers out of existence. To do so, you will need to enable debug mode, and then you can trigger the population control events with the command "event noble_auto_marry.60" Alternatively, you can trigger events "noble_auto_marry.61" if you don’t mind losing some skilled courtiers, or event "noble_auto_marry.62" if the situation is really dire.
