Description:

• This mod has it’s original basis and inspiration from MFO – Great Frontiers (WIP) . When using Side Quest, do not also subscribe to Great Frontiers or Minor Faction Overhauls as Side Quest supercedes them.
• Great Frontiers by The Mr. Shears was one of the earliest ‘overhaul’ mods I came across. Unfortunately, this overhaul seems to have been left in stasis since early 2024, and only after recently looking under the hood I’ve noticed the compilation missing many files so as to render the mod overhaul relatively broken. Additionally, a corrupt interiors file would cause crashes for me.
• My Side Quest mod is picking up the work since then to fix the compilation, replace missing files, and make any other minor fixes as found necessary. Unfortunately this could not simply be a patch since many important files were missing.
• From there, I am continuing to expand and build, adding in changes according to my own vision.

• The Mr Shears for the original lovely work and for dabbling in the Minor Factions which I tend to find the most interesting anyhow. Thanks for your work – this mod was inspired by and is a tribute to you firstly.

• Side Quest – Vanilla Plus Overhaul
• This vanilla-friendly mod is designed to add, edit, and build out many different components of the Kenshi experience while remaining as compatible and close to the original vanilla experience as possible. Generally nothing game-breaking, major edits to primary towns or cities, or drastic world state changes.
• The idea is that you could generally run this alongside loads of other mods and still have a compatible experience, just as Anrhaa includes it in his 700+ MEGA Kaizo/Vanilla+ Modpack.
• Thousands of lore-friendly tweaks to existing weapons, armour, and textures; additions of weapons from the developer cutting room floor (but left in the files).
• All done while balancing additions to not cause bloat or over-saturation of too many changes at once to a particular faction, group, or area of the game.

• These Side Quest mods above are included in Side Quest Vanilla Plus Overhaul. If you are subscribed to Side Quest you do not need to subscribe to these individual mods.

• Side Quest – Shadows and Dust This is my lighting and shadows overhaul that I spent a long time tweaking, and tried to find an alternative on the workshop but nothing ever accomplished what I was looking for. Try it out.
• This Side Quest mod above is not included in Side Quest Vanilla Plus Overhaul, because folks have may have their own specific preferences.

This is all done as a love letter to Kenshi, and a hefty clap on the back of gratitude to the modders above and all others that paved the way to make the Kenshi experience better for everyone.
