FAQ

Q: What’s a secondary color? Tertiary colors?

A: In the light spectrum, secondary colors are equal mixtures of two primary colors (RGB). Tertiary colors are mixtures of one primary color at 100% and another one at 50%. For example, rose is 100% red and 50% blue.

Q: Why so many colors?

A: I might have been okay with just the secondary colors, but I wanted orange, too. Orange is a tertiary color, so I added the rest as well. Overall, the greens are rather similar, due to how our eyes work, but the red/blue mixes are different enough to be worth it.

Q: Actually, I don’t think they are enough colors. Why can’t you add a color selector?

A: As far as I can tell, that would be rather difficult to code, since each colored light, texture, UI icon, and glower are different things. This mod was pretty easy to make by looking at the primary color examples and just duplicating most of that for different colors.

Twelve colors are plenty. If you actually need something in-between as a halftone, you can combine lights to try to create a new color. Wall lights can be built overtop each other, as long as the blueprint is finished first. (This is also a good trick for four-sided lights on a 1×1 block.)

Q: What’s a chartreuse?

A: It’s a better name than yellow-green, and it’s one of the "official" alternative names for that color. Couldn’t think of anything else that wasn’t "Mt Dew color" or something else equally ridiculous. Would have preferred a single word name for Spring Green as well, but that’s the best I could find.

Q: Are you going to make more colors for the standing lamp?

A: No. Standing lamps suck. I don’t care that they have a larger range. They are ugly and take up a walking square.

Seriously, though, somebody could just take this mod and compare it to the Core standing lamp definitions to create a new one if they want…

Q: Can you create a black light of darkness?

A: Tried that. Didn’t work. AFAIK, RimWorld doesn’t do negative light effects.

Q: I found a bug. How can I submit a fix?

A: I put this on GitHub here[github.com]. Just submit a PR.
