AGOT Great Councils
The goal of this mod is to bring the CK2AGOT system of Great Councils into CK3AGOT, in a (hopefully) expanded and improved way.
I was asked to make this mod in the hope that this could provide a stopgap until the AGOT team officially adds this mechanic in proper. My mod limits itself on providing an event chain and an election type system, like the CK2AGOT version had, but with more weighting factors for why nobles should vote one way or another on an exhaustive list of candidate rather than limiting it to four as it was in the CK2 version. (I mod for fun, so creating a new activity seemed out of the scope of what I wanted to do right now.)
Any suggestions for additions or changes are welcome, just leave a comment below. 👍
This submod attempts to recreate the CK2AGOT Great Council mechanic and vastly expand upon the system (at least in the backend) for CK3. Here’s what you can expect:
Either callable by an empire/hegemony-tier character when his heir meets the criteria you set in the game rules, or triggered very rarely on the death of an empire/hegemony-tier character if their heir is under 11 and not a close family member. (The logic behind the posthumous great council being so hard to trigger is that, if the heir meets any of the criteria that can be used to call a great council then the emperor/hegemon should do that while they are alive.)
Currently has 4 events: An event notifying you about a great council being called (or showing you calling it) → An event once all the lords and claimants of the realm have gathered and disregarded any incredulous claims to the throne → An event where the ai and you vote for the candidate you believe would make the best heir (or that you just like the most) → An event notifying you about the winner of the great council and giving you a tally of all the votes people received.
Every lord or lady count-tier and above gather to vote on the candidate they think should be the heir (since this isn’t an activity, they don’t actually travel, so don’t worry about this tanking your performance). This (and the rest of the mod) have been written entirely from scratch by me to (hopefully) deepen the ai’s logic on voting, so they don’t only vote off of opinion and if the heir is female like the CK2 version had (they had a couple other things but that was the gist of it).
New factors the ai takes into account for voting:
-Prioritizing the older sibling of a group
-Every Relationship under the sun
-Traits and personality compatibility
-Congenital Traits
-Sum of all Skills
-A character with high zeal will like a candidate with more virtuous trait
-If the candidate is a criminal (and if the voter cares that they are)
-And many many more
Expanded Candidate Logic:
Rather than just giving the four options CK2AGOT had this adds every dynasty member and every claimant to the empire/hegemony that has a parent from the emperor/hegemon’s dynasty to a candidate list (in posthumous great councils all claimants are candidates, ie: the Targ exiles if Robert were to die and his heir met the criteria for posthumous to fire)
Should theoretically be compatible with basically every AGOT submod, the only thing in this mod that isn’t custom code is altering the is_human trigger to add a check for a character flag to it. (This is used only on posthumous great councils to prevent the temporary heir from granting titles or holding a coronation, etc. before the true heir is selected via the council.)
Again any suggestions are welcome and if you would like to add to the mod with more flavor events, non-english localization, or something else, either create a submod for this submod I guess, or leave a comment and I can include them into the mod and give you full credit of course.
Also if anyone would like to incorporate this into their mod, or even into AGOT itself in some form, or maybe convert this into an activity type somehow, just ask for permission, and I’ll most likely say yes as long as there’s some form of crediting.
Bug reports and balance proposals are welcome, as long as they are kept civil.
