The Shattering is a total conversion mod for Dominions 6 made by Sturm and Nyaxe. It takes place during the War of the Demigods preceding the events of Elden Ring.

Mod Features:
  • 9 new nations based on Elden Ring’s lore, each with 2 custom pretenders with unique abilities.
  • Over 600 new hand-drawn sprites.
  • Entirely reworked independents, replacing every vanilla indie with appropriate Elden Ring units.
  • Changes to most vanilla weapons
  • New magic sites and spells
  • A unique campaign map by Mormacil (coming soon!)
  • At least one fox.

The Great Elden Ring, root of the Golden Order, anchor of all lands, giver of Grace, and wellspring of all joy, has been shattered. Queen Marika the Eternal has suddenly disappeared. Prayers go unanswered, and the Erdtree wards off all who dare approach. Marika’s demigod children claimed the shards of the Elden Ring, and it has become clear that only the strongest can rise to supremacy over their peers, to rule the Lands Between as Elden Lord. This is a time of great suffering and strife, as rival domains engage in the greatest conflict since Order was first established – the Shattering!

Playable Factions:

The Erdtree Faithful are the canonical participants in the wars of the Shattering. Their rosters all build upon a similar core of strong knights and capable infantry, supported by crossbows.

  • Stormveil, The Realm in Exile: Remnants of the Golden Lineage that have been hounded from the capital after their attempted coup. Scions of the Golden Lineage grant access to Air, Death, and Blood magic and can further boost their abilities through grafting.
  • Leyndell, Golden Capital: The Capital City, located at the foot of the Erdtree. Despite being partially destroyed by the dragon Gransax, it still holds strong to this day. Center of worship for both Golden Order Fundamentalism and the ancient Dragon Cult. Access to most magic paths, strong Air and Fire.
  • Caelid, Godfrey’s Legacy: Caelid is the home of the Redmanes – fearless warriors who follow General Radahn’s creed of martial might, supported by Sellian sorcerer assassins. Strong Astral and Earth, some Fire and Air.
  • Liurnia, Moonshard Lakes: Lands under the rule of the astrologers of the Carian royal family and the academy of Raya Lucaria, who serve the moon and stars, respectively. Strong Water, Astral, Glamour magic, troops employ glintstone weapons.
  • Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: Built around the Haligtree as a haven for those scorned by the Golden Order, Elphael harbors both the Empyreans of Rot and of Compassion. Commanders, units and magic access depend on which one is picked as its Pretender.
  • Gelmir, Path of Blasphemy: Once the seat of the Golden Order’s inquisition, Volcano Manor now teems with the spawn of a God-Devouring Serpent and recusants bent on destroying the Golden Order. Uses primarily Fire, Earth and Death magic.

In the Lands between, there exist many who would seek to supplant the Golden Order. Those Interlopers can be found far below ground, banished or hidden until the chaos above makes their rise possible.

  • Deeproot Depths, Realm of the Death Prince: Deep below the Erdtree lies the Corpse of Godwyn, spreading Deathroot and poisoning the Lands between through the roots of the Erdtree. Can recruit and freespawns skeletal units which rise again when slain. Strong Death and Water magic, reliable but mediocre Air.
  • Mohgwyn, the New Dynasty: Through great and terrible sacrifices, the Lord of Blood has achieved communion with an outer god. Fields stealthy sacreds and elites, as well as mages that gain free blood slaves in battle. Strong Blood, medium Fire, Death, Air and Nature magic.
  • Nokron, the Eternal City: The Nox inhabit the Eternal cities, once banished to the Underworld for an act of treason against the Greater Will. Most of their armies are made up of auxiliaries recruited from other cultures of the underworld as well as artificial lifeforms created by the Nox. Strong Water, Earth and Glamour magic, access to every magic path through copying the mages of other nations.

Mod-specific Sites:
  • Lesser Erdtrees: Lesser Erdtrees give access to Tree Guardians and Avatars as well as enhanced province defense. Some nations have specific interactions upon conquering a province containing a Lesser Erdtree, and from the catacombs below them, undead can be summoned. Each surface nation is guaranteed to have a lesser Erdtree in their capital adjacent provinces, nations that start underground will cause 1 more Erdtree to spawn somewhere outside of cap circles on the surface.
  • Divine Mausoleums: If Deeproot Depths is present in a game, 3 Divine Mausoleums will spawn on the surface. Divine Mausoleums are guarded by headless soldiers and allow Deeproot Depths to recruit its capital troops in those provinces once conquered. Divine Mausoleums can not spawn around nation capitals.
  • The Eternal Cities: Somewhere below the Lands Between lie the Eternal Cities of the Nox. These sites are guarded by Nokron’s national troops and allow Nokron to recruit its capital units and mages once taken. Nokron is also notified of where they are located at the start of a game. One Eternal City is located in the capital of Deeproot, two more are spawned in caves that do not border a capital.
  • There are many lesser magic sites which are guaranteed to appear on the map outside of cap circles but have so far no interaction with nations, but give access to specific mages or units. These include Yelough Anix, the Lake of Rot, Ancient Zamor, and Uhl Palace. More will be added in future updates

The mod will be updated with additional content as shown in the roadmap below (Currently phase 1, yes the last one is a joke.):

This mod is not designed to be played together with vanilla nations, nor any other mods at the moment unless specified otherwise. DO NOT USE THE DYNAMIC AND STABLE VERSIONS AT THE SAME TIME.
