This is a Landing Platform with 8x Industrial Water Extractors attached. To get all the Water and then some!
Structural integrity is held up by blast doors, so the whole thing looks like it floats, even though technically it doesnt. The blast doors may come down if you switch the thing off and on again, there is a Signal in the P-Menu to retract them again if that happens.
The science Station isn’t strictly needed – but it eases accessibility. You can get rid of it to make the thing a bit cheaper, but you may need to mark your primary extractor then to find it reliably.
Placement:
For Placement you can either place it fully above water (or at a shore), or sink it into the water until the middle walkway under the platform is slightly above water. In any case, be sure your water isn’t too deep, or you may run into structural issues when upgrading the primary extractor. Be aware you probably will not be able to get back onto it, if you placed it high above and fall into the water.
Always check structural integrity after placement – If you did mess up, you may still be able to use it, as long as at least one extractor is good with si. Just use that one then as the primary.
Power:
It will run fine on passive power as long as the turrets are off. So if you run into power issues due to low solar, switch those off. Or add a generator and fuel tank…
