Maya Fey (Ace Attorney)
"Oh! It’s nothing strange, really! I’m a spirit medium. In training."
Maya Fey, the Ace Assistant, chimes in! In her home series, Maya assumes the role of assistant to series protagonist Phoenix Wright, where she has proven to be an invaluable asset in courtroom battles, turnabouts, trials, and tribulations across the Ace Attorney series of games. Maya is also the student of the Khurain Channeling Technique, allowing her to channel the spirits of the deceased- and she brings that spirit here to the world of Rivals.
Being an all-arounder, Maya Fey is a notably lightweight character with a floaty double jump. She also comes equipped with a stat select menu, allowing her to switch up the pace of battle on the fly. When the going gets rough, she can even channel her sister, Mia Fey, to assist her- who takes the form of a powerful comeback mechanic.
Maya also features a unique "JP Mode", enabling some audio and visual changes during the match, which may be toggled on the character select screen- as well as the option for voiced speech bubbles at the beginning of the match. She also has a ton of workshop compatibility features- have fun finding them all!
Maya winds up her fist while carrying a random piece of evidence, before chucking it at the opponent. The damage and knockback of the projectile depends on how long the attack has been charged. The attack is fairly spamable, making it great for applying pressure in neutral. If the evidence is fully charged, it gains significantly more speed and knockback, making it much more deadly. She can also cancel the attack mid-charge by jumping or shielding.
Maya points forward in the same accusatory manner as her "boss", shouting "Hold it!" Any opponents caught in the bubble will be stunned momentarily. It begins as a fairly straightforward attack- however, once Maya reaches 100% or higher, Maya will channel the spirit of her sister Mia Fey will to enhance the attack, transforming into a powerful "Objection!" This variation of the attack is much bigger, deals significantly more damage, and stuns opponents longer. Additionally, if Maya is on her last stock, she will channel Mia Fey as early as 70%.
Maya pulls up her own court record, allowing her to choose from one of four unique perks with varying effects:
– Tapping left will have Maya select "Magatama", increasing her damage output.
– Tapping right will select "Waves of Turnabout", boosting her aerial agility significantly.
– Tapping down will select "Calling Card", decreasing any damage taken while increasing her durability.
– Lastly, tapping up will instead see Maya eat a hamburger. Burgers heal 6% of her total damage taken, however she only has access to three per stock.
The status effects she gains are temporary however, and they will not stack, meaning you can only select one perk at a time. (Note: you can cancel out of the evidence select menu and her select animations by jumping or shielding.)
Maya wields a broom, before dramatically slashing forward in the chosen direction, imitating her favorite television hero. She can slash in any direction the attack is held on startup, however if she ends up in the air she will enter freefall.

All spritework/coding, save for the aforementioned, was done by me.
