Ave, fellow Total War enthusiasts!

After almost 700 hours of continuous work, I, Genesis, present to you the biggest Rome 2 modding project I have ever attempted: Total War: AMAZONIA – A New World

What is Total War: AMAZONIA?

Total War: AMAZONIA – A New World, is a massive overhaul mod for Rome 2, along the lines of DEI and Radious. Instead of being focused on historical events, it takes place in an alternate reality of the ancient world. With various new cultures, factions, effects, buildings, units, technologies, UI visuals, and major overhauls to the campaign and battle AI, this’ll be a new experience for even the most hardcore Total War players!

This mod originally premiered as a faction pack with the Amazonian culture, however it has since evolved to be a lot more than that, with many new cultures on the way!

What’s new in Total War: AMAZONIA – A New World?

Total War: AMAZONIA – A New World has countless changes and additions, but let’s outline the more important stuff:

  • A planned overhaul for every campaign to something new which throws the player into an alternate history of our world. With the Grand Campaign, Caesar in Gaul, and Hannibal at the Gates overhauls currently included with the mod.
  • A few new cultures have been added to the Grand Campaign, with some who will be making an appearance in other campaigns, sometimes exclusively. Each with their own custom technologies, unit rosters, buildings, and gameplay styles.
  • Modified version of ‘Unique Trait Icons’ by Boicote, as well as recolored all other icons to match a new aesthetic.
  • Improved CAI from WARHAMMER and ATTILA.
  • Diplomacy changes from ATTILA & WARHAMMER! (Adjusted cultural relations to match Attila’s, treaties net fewer positive diplomatic modifiers overall, but the AI also forgives war more quickly.)
  • Slightly modified combat and battle mechanics.
  • Improved the auto-resolve significantly.
  • Revamped resource system, with multiple new resources added into the game with certain buildings producing certain resources that are necessary to construct some buildings other buildings. Adds more depth and reason to trade.
  • All units, generals, and officers for ALL factions have received a reskin with new clothing and shield models/patterns.
  • A few previously unplayable factions are now playable with their own faction traits.
  • Stronger unit highlights on the battlefield from Total War: Warhammer (helps see the enemy through fog!)
  • Public Order hit on higher difficulty levels, & the AI no longer gets free public order on any difficulty, copied from Warhammer.
  • No more Slums!
  • Generals will act as governors when in provinces (similar to Attila), and their Authority, Cunning & Zeal will have effects on public order, among other things.
  • Walled settlements now get a 15% increase in strength during autoresolve calculations.
  • Much, much more!

Using this overhaul, the game is significantly more difficult than vanilla. Recommend you play on the same difficulty you play Total War: Attila and Total War: Warhammer on.

Campaigns:

Each campaign will/has been overhauled and re-imagined in some way.

Grand Campaign: Where the large chunk of the content is. A whole new world for you to explore and conquer, running at 4 turns per year.

Caesar in Gaul: Renamed to Helena in Gaul, it’ll follow the story of an Amazonian Empress shortly after conquering Rome, as she turns her attention to the barbarians in the North.

Hannibal at the Gates: Takes place roughly 40 years prior to the Helena in Gaul campaign (You’ll even be able to see a 1 year old Helena in the family tree!). Following the assimilation of the Roman Republic into the Amazonian dynasty, Hannibal Barca, famed Carthaginian military general and tactician, fearing the uncontrolled and rapid expansion of the Amazons, devised a simple yet potentially effective plan; strike first before you are the first struck. The key lies in Carthage’s mighty navy; while the Amazons field deadly infantry, the Amazonian navy is bare bones and ill-equipped to handle a seafaring military force like Carthage.

The other campaigns are yet to be released or announced but stay tuned!

Some notes on the mod:
  • This mod already incorporates 4TPY, my slave warriors mod, and a bunch of other tiny additions that will not be compatible with other mods, so please don’t load any other mods as they might cause the game to crash or function incorrectly. (Music mods should work flawlessly, however.)
  • Using this overhaul, the game is significantly more difficult than vanilla. Recommend you play on the same difficulty you play Total War: Attila and Total War: Warhammer on.
  • I will be making a list of mods that are confirmed to be compatible, as well as making a few of my own submods. But for now, I highly recommend you play without any other additions.
  • In the GC, the Amazons start out as a largely barbarian faction, but by researching technology they will become more Hellenic.
  • In the GC, by researching the "Hellenic Ships" tech, the Amazons will be able to recruit the Greek ships instead of the standard barbarian ones.
  • In Helena in Gaul, you’ll instantly have access to the Hellenic units available in the GC late game, but you’ll only be able to recruit them in the lands you start with. As you push deeper into Gaul you’ll have to rely on the local auxiliaries or to bring professional Amazonians and Roman Auxiliaries from the border and send them towards the front line.

I’d like to dedicate this section to the following family members and friends who inspire me everyday and give me the endurance and strength to take on such a project ❤️
