BettIR Attachments Framework – Development Branch
Extending the weapon attachments for even more realism!
As promised, BettIR NVG lights have been separated from the weapon attachments, so that people can use other weapon attachment solutions, such as ITN.
This is a development build! Expect bugs, debug messages, lack of mod key, because it’s not ready to be put in production.
This actually helps more than you think. It’s been hard to find the time to work on mods partially because I have bills and expenses, which requires me to work, obviously. Supporting my efforts financially helps me accomodate the time for modding, and to finish this mod faster. https://buymeacoffee.com/vestarr
This is the development branch for the attachments framework, which expands the functionality of laser devices. As a showcase, the mod includes a revamped DBAL A2 in the slot of the default laser device offered by the game. You can toggle the modes with ACE interactions or keybinds (check below).
The DBAL A2, and many other devices, use a momentary activation, with double-tap for continuous operation.
Power #1 – primary activation button. Default: L (I suggest assigning to extra mouse buttons if you have them).
Power #2 – secondary activation button (e.g. flashlight in a laser/flashlight combo). Default: unbound.
Toggle Mode #1 – primary mode toggle (usually the master mode in the laser device). Default: Shift + L
Toggle Mode #2 – secondary mode toggle (often used to switch between laser/flashlight in a combo, or switch the power mode in a laser device). Default: Ctrl + L
Some popular mods provide laser + flashlight device combo, which usually require you to toggle between them.
With Power #1 and Power #2 keybinds, you’re able to find a suitable keybind to activate one or the other, without the need to toggle.
Try it now with RHS AN/PEQ-15 + flashlight combo.
The illuminator/laser params are not set in stone, and they are shared between all devices – if you can help me find better values to add more variety to the mod, feel free to reach out!
The old version of BettIR was made when the engine didn’t even support directional IR lights, only lasers, so with some tricky scripting I managed to make a "fake" IR light that was attached to the weapon. The new version is as engine-friendly as it can be – no more weird keybinds to turn on the light, and if ARMA lights/lasers can be picked up by AI, they will.
– ACE
– RHS USAF (WIP: IR flashlights not operational)
– Settings resetting when switching between primary weapon and other inventory items
I made a video explaining the concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQINwlgEiSw
