Truly Hostile Wildlife
Original mod credit goes to Evelyn0104.
HUGE thanks to Sisyphus192 for his coding wizardly to fix some nagging bugs and add native Enemies Evolve mod support without requiring a separate mod!
The bulk of the map is a fairly tame and safe place to harvest resources with minimal risk of hostile creatures attacking you unless a hive just so happens to be in the line of sight of your survivors’ path (which they will ever so foolishly walk into), or you cross paths some grumpy and territorial gujos.
With this game rule enabled, creatures and hives will now continuously spawn across the entire map at certain intervals, meaning areas outside of your base will never truly be completely safe. Your survivors will either need to be well armed and armored, accompanied by others, or stay within areas close to your base to remain safe from attacks.
Initial spawns at the beginning of the game will be minimal, so you will be able to traverse the map in relative safety as your base gets established. If you’re good about destroying hives as they spawn in the areas you’re traversing, then they will remain that way. If not…prepare for danger and a much larger fight later on. Spawns are capped to a limit of 2000 so as to not make it impossible to fight against, and also to not impede game performance too much.
The benefit to this is you’ll have access to an additional abundance of insect meat, carbon nantotubes, and/or silicon once you’re strong enough. If you’re playing Guardians, these insects will be just as dangerous to the robots landing in the area and will actually help to keep your main base safer by weakening or outright destroying them before they attack you.
Will spawn Shreikers, Skarabei, and Junos on Alba, Desertum, and Sobrius; and Scissorhands, Hummingflies, and Glutches on Saltu.
Higher tier creatures from Enemies Evolve will only spawn after certain amounts of time have passed.
NOTE! You may experience increased slowness if you’re playing on older hardware and getting additional huge base attack spawns later in the game. I HIGHLY recommend using the Enemies Evolve and/or Attack Wave Modifier mods to decrease the overall amount of spawns in later timed-based attack waves.
