B-1B Lancer
The B-1B Lancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing heavy strategic bomber of the United States Air Force, developed by the former Rockwell International (now Boeing). It was commissioned in 1985, with a total production of 100 aircraft and approximately 45 in active service. As an upgraded variant of the B-1A, it is renowned for low-altitude penetration and heavy payload capacity. It is one of the core assets of the US military’s strategic strike force and also the bomber with the largest payload in the US inventory.
With a length of 44.81 meters and a height of 10.36 meters, the B-1B has a maximum takeoff weight of 216.6 tons. It is powered by four F101-GE-102 turbofan engines, boasting a maximum high-altitude speed of Mach 1.25 and a range of 12,000 kilometers, enabling intercontinental flight without aerial refueling. Its wing sweep angle is adjustable from 15° to 67.5°, balancing the requirements of high-speed and low-speed cruise. It also features stealth optimization with a radar cross-section of only 0.75 square meters, far smaller than that of the B-52. Equipped with 3 internal weapon bays with a maximum internal payload of 34 tons, it can carry a variety of ammunitions such as the AGM-158 JASSM, LRASM and JDAM. Upgraded for conventional precision strikes after the Cold War, it has participated in numerous combat operations including Operation Desert Fox, the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War.
