Mounts Affect Travel Speed
Because it only makes sense that you travel faster while riding a horse.
In vanilla Elin, the base time it takes to travel from one tile to another in the world map is 180 minutes. This is only affected by your Travel Skill, and a hidden Travel Speed stat (affected by a few things like Seven League Boots and Lulwy’s artifact). Contrary to what common sense might tell you, your Speed stat does not affect this.
- Cohesive Game Logic: Your Effective Speed while mounted is now used to calculate World Map speed. Riding skill, being a witch on a broom… existing game calculations will affect your World Map speed with this mod.
- Gear Stacking: Your character’s equipment (e.g., Seven League Boots) still stack with the mount’s bonus. Note: you still need to wear them yourself.
- Immersion: This travel speed boost only applies while you’re riding a mount on the World Map… for… immersion purposes.
Right now, this mod takes 20% of your effective speed while mounted, and adds it as raw travel speed (now configurable!). This table shows the travel time (per map tile) for a character with 0 Travel Speed and 0 Travel Skill (Baseline: 180 Minutes).
Why Gear Still Matters:
This second table shows the stacking effect if the player already has Seven League Boots (Travel Speed +27).
I suggest using this mod for easy config: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3379819704
- Speed Multiplier: The percentage of effective speed added to travel speed.0.2 = 20% conversion rate. Range: 0.0 to 1.0. I suggest 20%, so that having a speed of 100 doubles your travel speed
- Require Mount: If set to false, your effective speed stat while walking will affect travel speed (no need to ride a mount).
