Spellbook Writing『☆』
All magic begins with a dream.
For centuries, master mages created spellbooks through closely guarded secrets, known only to the most experienced among them. Using their arcane powers, they seared the very own memories of their massive spellstocks in paper and parchment.
Through this art, magic became accessible to all, and novice mages were no longer bound by the meager trickle of their own source. Yet mages who posses spellstock in abundance are rare, and fewer are willing to part. As such, spellbooks remain rare and costly.
But now, the secrets are unveiled. And you too, can use your dreams to write your very own spellbooks!
(Note: I don’t know anything about Elona/Elin lore and just made this up, but I like this explanation.)
With this mod you can use the writing tool to convert spellstock into spellbooks. The recipe is 2 texture, a gem, optionally a powder and is known from the start.
The maximum amount of charges that can be created depends on the combined hardness of the used materials and your literacy skill. Keep in mind the actual amount of charges that can be made still depends on how much spellstock you have. The amount of spellstock consumed for a charge is equivalent to how much you would get from reading it. The game has some randomness in this formula so you might end up with slightly more or less spellstock.
As a unique feature, you can craft spellbooks with higher charges than you would normally find in the game. However, for balance purposes you can’t duplicate these spellbooks.
The type of spellbook crafted is random, but spells with more spellstocks have a higher chance of being selected. You can narrow down the spells by using a powder in the recipe. The spells for each powder are as follows:
Can I add/remove the mod mid-save?
Install: Absolutely.
Uninstall: Spellbooks crafted with this mod will turn into ash, so read or sell them first.
What happens if I create a spellbook without any spellstock?
The arcane inscription will become unstable and burn into ashes.
I supplied good materials. Why did I barely get any charges?
– You didn’t have enough spellstock.
– There is still some luck involved in getting the best results.
What can I do with these books?
Whatever you want. You can sell them for money, save them for later to get more charges out of them, or my personal favorite: turn them into talisman.
