The year is 555AD. The aged and declining Justinian is nearing the end of his reign. Constantinople has reclaimed several provinces of the old Western Roman Empire and finally defeated the Ostrogoths in Italy. Yet there still remains so much to do. The new provinces are turbulent and rebellion threatens to break out. Exhausted Roman military strength must be rebuilt. The war with the Visigoths continues in Hispania, and new and familiar enemies gather along the vast and overextended frontiers.

Recommended unit size: Large

Ultra unit size is NOT recommended due to a known Attila bug where all starting units are at vanilla size (until upgraded or replaced).
