Remnants of the Protectorate (0.1.1)
Isn’t it a bit of a shame that the Protectorate gets a full introductory mission and then they are pretty much gone for the rest of the game?
Remnants of the Protectorate is an addon that tries to take the few bits of lore and characterization present in vanilla and try to extrapolate on them to make them more fleshed out and with a bit more presence. This addon takes more of a “worldbuilding” approach to its lore, presenting it in the context of the Starbound setting rather than trying to make a very particular storyline.
New objects: a lot of Protectorate-themed objects to use in your builds, most of them purchasable in the Protectorate ship encounters. You can get Protectorate tenants for your colonies too!
New codices and lore: over 33 new codices for you to find in the world! Learn what the Terrene Protectorate is about and get to know a bit more about the people who run it.
New costumes and items: over 10 new sets, 2 new armor sets and a bunch of items that go from food and reward bags to mech parts.
New dungeons and encounters: find what’s left of the Terrene Protectorate throughout the galaxy. Ship encounters, microdungeons and a brand-new dungeon: the Artificial Biosphere.
Unlike other takes on the Terrene Protectorate, this mod doesn’t think of the Protectorate as a police force nor as a military organization, but rather follows what the vanilla game had established. The Protectorate is an institution that’s there to offer help to anyone who needs it, it’s humanitarian and represents the ideals of Humanity to the galaxy: a united universe where people can coexist peacefully.
The Protectorate in this case is not secluded exclusively to Earth anymore, or not entirely at least; it has a complex network of outposts, space stations and routes by which they can reach the galaxy swiftly.
However, the destruction of Earth has left the Protectorate in shambles; almost all the Protectors are gone and much of its infrastructure has to either now be reclaimed by what’s left of the organization, or abandoned.
Introducing the Astraeus Program! When the Protectorate is not out there helping people, they are exploring space; the Astraeus Program is a section of the Protectorate fully dedicated to this activity, and for that they have a unique role: the Envoy. Envoys embark into exploratory missions called Astraeus Missions, and by the time Earth has been destroyed, the 21st Astraeus Mission is out there on their way to their now fallen home.
With their numbers pretty much intact, they will take on the mantle of the Protectorate, and they will try to put it back to work once more, a task easier said than done.

I want to thank Armok for helping me A LOT with this mod, suggesting all sorts of interesting ideas for the mod, helping me with the writing and grammar of the mod and generally just being a great friend.

So far, the foundations of the mod are pretty much done; next updates will be rather smaller and will complete aspects of the mod that I think need a touch up or are kind of incomplete, like adding more furniture, adding some extra dungeons that didn’t make it on the release version, and so on. Maybe I’ll add a storyline in the future, I won’t promise anything though.
As for other stuff, well, I’ve been working on a Project Parasprite mod too, it still needs some time in the oven, but I can show you a small teaser at least:
