Description:
Homies help homies. ALWAYS.

Joining the Cartoon Jam, Finn and Jake are together again to adventure through the lands of Aether!

An aggressive swordfighter with an element of tag team beatdowns, Finn and Jake are a well-rounded pair with an emphasis on offensive flexibility and rapid setups that enable strong offensive pressure. Sporting a solid set of normals and a simple yet flexible set of specials, they are good at aggressively controlling the pace of neutral with a solid variety of options.

After committing to certain actions, Finn can set Jake up on the field, reducing his ranged threat in exchange for increasing the threat of his attacks with automatic follow-ups that let you put the hurt on your foes. However, while they are quite versatile, Finn is much more threatening on the ground than he is in the air and is quite vulnerable whenever Jake is out of commission.

If you want a flexible pair of bros who can maintain strong offensive pressure, grab your friends Finn and Jake, and the fun will never end!

Gimmick: Jake’s Assistance

With the Duo Special moves, Finn can place Jake on the field to follow up on his bro’s offense. Once he is on the field, Jake will automatically jump towards opponents who Finn hits within a certain range of him, performing one of a couple of potent attacks that excel at enabling further offense. Then he stretches back to Finn to group up, going on a brief cooldown afterward that prevents Finn from using Duo Specials for a second afterward.

Jake is quite vulnerable while he is out on the field, however. One hit will stun him briefly before forcing him to return to Finn with a longer cooldown, and parrying any of Jake’s attacks will send him back with an even longer cooldown than that.

Special Moves
Nspecial
Duo Nspecial – Stretch Punch

Finn braces himself as Jake winds up his arm, launching a stretched-out punch covering a wide area. This powerful poke can deal significant damage if it connects with Jake’s fist, but it has considerable startup and endlag, making it a high-risk, high-reward finisher.
If you press the special button during the windup, Finn will throw Jake instead, causing Jake to perform an armored punch that spikes on hit. This move serves as an effective tool for controlling space and setting up stage control.

Solo Nspecial – Come Along with Me

If Finn is alone, Nspecial will instead perform a fast command grab where Finn spins and tosses the opponent away. If he throws the opponent within Jake’s range, he will jump up and perform a unique clap attack that sports hefty vertical kill power.
You can even turn around on-hit to send the opponent in the other direction, further increasing your chances of a follow-up!

Fspecial
Duo Fspecial – Jake Charge!

Jake comes out of the backpack, morphs into a horse, and then charges forward, taking Finn along with him as he goes. A long, active burst movement special that bounces up off opponents on hit, enabling follow-ups afterward. Performing this move while airborne halves its total duration, but doesn’t go into pratfall afterward, making it a strong horizontal recovery tool. Pressing special while charging forward will have Finn kick off of Jake, bouncing backward while sending Jake out as a projectile to set him up at a far distance away from Finn.

Solo Fspecial – Heroic Slash

If Finn is alone, Fspecial will instead perform a forward dashing attack featuring a powerful slash with decent killing potential. It is much more vulnerable, notably going into pratfall if done in the air. If you collide with Jake during the dash, he will be automatically recalled.

Uspecial – Gliding Blade

Finn grasps his sword and then performs an uppercut slash that sports solid vertical kill power.
If Jake is with Finn while he performs Uspecial, then Jake will puff up like a parachute, letting Finn float slowly to the ground for a few seconds or until he cancels it by pressing down/parry. You can hold parry before the apex to prevent this portion of the move entirely and go straight to pratfall.
If Finn is alone, then colliding into Jake during the slash will recall him, letting you potentially get the parachute up even if you started the move while separated.

Dspecial – Separate Tactics

Finn braces himself while Jake jumps out of the backpack, landing right in front of Finn as a way to quickly set him up on the field.
If Finn is alone, Dspecial will have Finn call Jake back to him immediately with no cooldown, giving you immediate access to the Duo capabilities straight away.

Other Notable Moves

The following moves change properties depending on whether Jake is with Finn:

  • Jab
  • Nair
  • Fstrong
  • Ustrong
  • Dstrong

The Duo normals gain extra hits that grant them additional range or coverage and further kill power in exchange for slower startup, endlag, and large extended hurtboxes during endlag, making them far riskier to miss. Jab 3 is also notably locked behind Jake being with Finn.
